We had a blast in Taupo recently, managed to do both jet boat rides in the area thanks to Hukafalls Jet, Lake Taupō, New Zealand and Rapids Jet Taupo NZ. Of course you have to take a shot at the Lake Taupo Hole in 1. Massive mihi to NZ Māori Tourism for the amazing week and hook ups🫶

We love our NZ Māori Tourism conferences😍It's been 5yrs since we've got together with our whānau and what a blast it's been. These murals were created from yesterday's incredible keynote speakers. We're reminded that what we do as Tu Tika Tours is exactly what our guests to Aotearoa are seeking. Jetboat rides this arvo woohoo😜

The area is called Matauri Bay, a beautiful coastal settlement just out from Mama Huia's hometown of Kaeo. It was a gathering of all the musicians for a weekend rehearsal at the marae. We only stayed for lunch, but boy, were we served a banquet of local delicacies. Can you name all my favorites I placed on my plate?

A typical "Winterless North" day in the top end of Aotearoa New Zealand! You’d be surprised at how quickly we can experience all four seasons in just one day. A Kiwi band, Crowded House, even wrote a song about experiencing our "Four Seasons in One Day."

The single most culturally important thing a visitor should do after arriving in Aotearoa is to experience some Māori culture.

We all want to feel welcomed when we visit a new country, and in New Zealand, we have our own special way of making our visitors feel at home. We call it a pōwhiri or whakatau - a welcoming ceremony.

This ceremony offers a deep insight into Māori traditions, values, and hospitality. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with the indigenous culture and people of New Zealand.

Did you know the kauri tree is one of the oldest and largest trees in the world? With lifespans extending well over a millennium, some kauri trees are more than 2,000 years old, making them ancient relics from the age of the dinosaurs. 🦕
Kauri trees are primarily found in Northland. The largest known living kauri tree is Tane Mahuta, named after the god of the forest. Located in Waipoua Forest, Northland, Tane Mahuta stands over 50 meters high and is truly a sight to behold. 😲

Nestled in the heart of Whangārei is one of our special places. The locals call it the Whangārei Falls, but like many places in Aotearoa N.Z, the true names have either been shortened or changed. The true names of these places share the real stories and history of the area. They all have culturally and spiritually significant meanings. Welcome to Otuihau🙌

An intimate authentic Maori Cultural experience and tour in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Kia ora and welcome to our lil piece of paradise in the most Northern City of New Zealand called Whangarei. Most of our international visitors fly into Auckland, the biggest city in New Zealand. We are a 2 hour drive or 1/2hr flight north from here.

As tangata whenua (indigenous people of this land) we believe all visitors should experience a traditional welcoming ceremony to our country. This will set you up for an amazing day of experiences and connections with us, your passionate and knowledgeable descendants of the land, namely your tour guides, soon to be whanau (family).

We welcome you in to our our own home and share with you our culture, our history, our food, our arts, our songs, our lands, our rivers. What we offer is not your normal “touristy tour”. This is an authentic cultural experience you will never forget.
