Massive Fall and Ancient Farms ❤️🇴🇲

You can imagine the feeling of encountering this amazing waterfall after hopping and scrambling over huge boulders over a grueling 4.5-5hrs hike, but it was absolutely worth it. From how tired I was, I also didn't notice the extensive farm terraces and water channel (Falaj) until the way back - you can see them clearly in photos 8 and 9.

This waterfall is deep inside Wadi Naqimah which is the left fork of Wadi Al Arbaeen, the hike is tough and really tiring especially since it is often dry and humid, and it has to be after a period of rain to see the waterfall at this level!

Random photos from my last visit to Wadi Ta'ab with its amazing rock formations, unique patterns and a few gorgeous waterfalls ❤️ this trip was back in April after recent rains and the water level and flow was quite high, you'd not often see the waterfalls like that, you we were a bit lucky 😉

The grandeur of the "Grand Canyon of Arabia", Wadi Al Nakhur in Al Hamra ❤❤️❤️

The gorgeous pool is Jibat Al Midalah at Wadi Nakhur, at the wonderful trek through the wadi! We were blessed with a beautiful cloudy day during our hike, which made the hike much more enjoyable and added just that extra little spark to the photos (in my opinion)

Souq Muttrah vibes at night

Souq Muttrah is the oldest souq in Muscat, and one of the top tourist destinations in our lovely city. Despite that, I don't think it can be quite labeled as a "tourist trap", as there are still lots of authentic shops if you take time to explore.

A protip from me: try to explore the side alleys and the area just outside the covered souq (it's technically part of the souq too, but obviously less visited by tourists), you get a lot more authentic stuff, and better rates too!

A number of photos are taken at the lovely Ali Baba Gift Town, which has a wonderful vibe and a friendly owner whom you can often meet at the shop.

(I took these photos over several visits, the ones with me are way back in early to mid 2022 😅)

Day and Night at the iconic Masjid Talib in Mutrah 🇴🇲

I have lost count of how many times I've taken photos of this gorgeous mosque, which I believe is inspired by Moghul era architecture (?), as I always find myself walking towards it whenever I am visiting Muttrah or it's souq. These photos were taken over the period of 2020-2024, so they were definitely not all on the same day!

The beautiful ancient village of Al Suwgra ❤️🇴🇲 at Jabal Akhder

I was honored to be invited by to their event to mark 10 years since they started operating the guesthouse as well as a launch of their new digital identity and website, which you should definitely check out:

The traditional guesthouse and hospitality of the village is really something special, and the story of how they transformed the old houses in this 500 year old village to a beautiful guesthouse with a wonderful vibe is truly remarkable! The Suwgra is not only a guesthouse, as they also offer some great activities and adventures in and around the village - it's a place I wholeheartedly suggest to include in the itinerary of anyone visiting Oman!

The event also had a number of activities and talks, including stories from Omani entrepreneurs and artists, I was very happy to connect and meet some of them - which was very inspiring!

Bioluminescence Waves in Muscat 🌊💙

Photos cannot do justice to the magical sight you can encounter when this bioluminescence phenomenon occurs at night! The effect happens due to a type of planktons/algae, and the it's most intense at night and when the waves hit the beach or rocks.

The phenomenon has been going on around Muscat beaches for a few weeks now, and if you are likely to still be able to encounter if the conditions are right. If you notice a green algae during the day (with a bit of a nasty smell), then chances are the effect may happen at night 🌃

Al Mirani Fort in Old Muscat ❤️❤️❤️

A historic fort overlooking the old port of Muscat that was built by the Portuguese in the 1600s on top of ruins of an older fort. The views are absolutely amazing over Al Alam Palace, Al Jalali Fort, Al Khour Mosque and of course the beautiful sea.

The fort is open for visitors as of 2nd of April 2024, with entry fees as follows:
3 OMR for Omanis
10 OMR for non-Omanis
Half price for kids under 12, and free enter for kids below 6 years old.

Opening time:
Sun-Wed: 8am-11pm
Thus-Sat: 8am-12am

There is a lovely cafe inside the fort with great coffee, that also offers iftar boxes at a lovely setting during Ramadan (with an absolutely delicious samosa). I understand that there are also some events in the evenings there like live music, rekhal (Omani bread) making etc, but I didn't stay long enough to see that.

I was so happy to be able to visit there on just the 2nd day of it's opening as I've been wanting to visit this fort ever since I saw it as a kid, and never imagined it'll be open for the public. While the price may seem excessive (especially for non Omanis), I guess the company running it has its reasons (maybe due to high fees of running it or to limit numbers), it's still well worth a visit in my opinion!

Blue Hour Fishing 🎣 🛥🧡

At my favourite beach in Muscat, this is the location that I believe is going to be right in the heart of where "Al Khuwair Downtown" is planned to be. I can see the attraction, with the beautiful mountains backdrop of a stunning beach, but I'd be personally a bit sad to see the simple charm of this place change with the development.

A photo journey wandering through the heart of Nizwa's old town.

Nizwa should definitely be on your list of places to visit if you ever plan a trip to Oman. From its ancient fort and bustling souq (including a goat market every Friday) to the charming shops and cafes in the recently renovated old town, Nizwa offers a rich experience. It's also the gateway to the breathtaking Western Hajar Mountains and in close proximity to lots of amazing trails!
