Khasab Castle lies in the quiet fishing town of the same name, in the Musandam Governorate in Oman.

Khasab Castle was built by the Portuguese in the beginning of the 17th century. There is evidence to suggest that it was built on the ruins of an earlier indigenous fort. Some 25 years after its construction, the Portuguese were expelled from Oman and the castle was taken over by Omani rulers, who modified it to their own military needs.

Khasab is a port city on northern Oman’s Musandam Peninsula. Khasab Fort has crenelated stone turrets, model wooden boats and a museum with handicrafts and archaeological finds. The city tour starts with a visit to the restored Khasab castle, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Drive through the town with its old and new souks. You will visit the Wadi Qadah with the old village of Tawi; at the end of the deep bay, you can see prehistoric rock carvings depicting (drawing, painting) camels, ships, and warriors, said to be more than 2000 years old.
