is a town in Ash Sharqiyah Region of Oman and is 80km from Ras al-Hadd and 90km from Ras al-Jinz.
It’s a tourist destination known for its cool weather and scenic beauty, witnesses a remarkable influx of tourists from within and outside the Sultanate during June-September every year, when light clouds are formed and temperatures fall to 22 and 28 degrees Celsius.
On the way to their favourite destination, visitors can enjoy the beauty of villages along the coastline of the Arabian Sea. Also, they have several options for choosing a suitable location for camping in Al Ashkharah — on the beach or sand dunes or next to the sea fishing harbour. There are facilities for windsurfing as Al Ashkharah has several khours (bays), the famous ones being Khour Omar and Khour Aweijah.

island 🏝️ is the largest island in Oman as well as the most relaxing destination for a weekend getaway, this island is filled with stunning beaches and exciting water sports 🏄‍♂️ The island has a population of about 12,000 people and was only recently open for tourism. This island is known as a “paradise for kitesurfers” as it is always windy, with cool breeze pouring in from the Arabian Sea🌊 There are four different species of turtles whose habitat is on the Masirah beaches, including around 30,000 nesting female turtles 🐢

part of the greater Wadi Bani Awf region, is Oman’s largest natural water park. Journey through the cracks between two mountains, where gushing water has cut right through, leaving behind smooth, colorful rocks with plenty of water pools. The canyon can be as wide as 30 feet and as narrow as 2 feet, at some parts and it takes roughly 4-5 hours to get through it. Snake Canyon has 2 forks, both routes require jumping in and out of water pools. The easy route is perfect for families, where as medium includes abseiling for those more adventurous!

(Green Mountain) is one of the Sultanate’s most popular destinations for residents and visitors, thanks to its diverse options for relaxation, hiking and visiting cultural sites. The region features sumptuous resorts, spectacular scenery as far as the eye can see and a wealth of opportunities to shop for locally made handicrafts or visit centuries-old villages and historical building to learn about Oman’s rich history.
Jebel Akhdar is located 150 km from Muscat. The range is mostly desert, but at higher altitudes, the famed Damask rose flourishes, along with shrubs, trees, and orchards of apricots, pomegranates and walnuts.
Jebel Akhdar is also home to Diana’s Point, a site with a spectacular panoramic view that the late Princess Diana enjoyed when she visited Oman in 1986.

is located in Wilayat AlSeeb in the Muscat Governorate and lies about 18 kilometres (11 mi) off the coast of Barka (70 kilometres (43 mi) west of Muscat, the capital). It is composed of nine islands with a total area of 100 hectares (250 acres). The reserve has a rich natural heritage and is replete with several kinds of coral reefs, including some examples that are quite rare. The island is home to a large number of sea turtles that lay their eggs and nest there, as well as a magnet for migratory and indigenous birds.

It is a vital and diverse habitat for fish, whales, turtles, and birds both locally and globally.

From September to February, a spectacular island appears on Oman’s eastern coast.
It’s called “the Solar Island,” in Bar Al Hikman. It has the largest coral reefs in Oman as well as a diverse range of sea creatures and fish. This island is well-known for its sea diving activities.

The site of one of the oldest souqs in the country, this extensive marketplace is dedicated mostly to fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, all of which are housed in separate blocks behind the great, crenellated piece of city wall that overlooks the wadi. Part of the souq (nearest the fort) is dedicated to handicrafts and caters specifically to the passing tourist trade.

(ROHM) is Oman’s premier venue for musical arts and culture. The opera house is located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat on Sultan Qaboos Street. Built on the royal orders of Sultan Qaboos of Oman, the Royal Opera House reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture, and has a capacity to accommodate maximum of 1,100 people. The opera house complex consists of a concert theatre, auditorium, formal landscaped gardens, cultural market with retail, luxury restaurants and an art centre for musical, theatrical and operatic productions.

is a natural water spring with a constant temperature of 45 ° C. The hot water comes out in several “streams” to irrigate the orchards and the water of “Al Kasfah” is known as a natural treatment for rheumatic diseases due to its “sulfur” nature as well as the treatment of skin diseases. rising out of the rock on which it’s built, the Mutrah Fort cuts an imposing figure looming over the harbour. If you’ve got an eye for a view be sure to scale the steps that wind up the side of the cliff edge. At the top you’re rewarded with stunning vistas of the surrounding harbour and the Gulf of Oman.
Built by the Portuguese during their occupation of the 1580s, Mutrah Fort was a sturdy defensive measure against attack from the rampaging Ottoman army. It’s one of a number of forts they built here, along with Al Jalali, Khasab and Mirani.

is located in Ash-Sharqiyyah South Governorate, Oman, is the easternmost point of the Arabian Peninsula. It is a nesting site for green turtles, as also is the beach at the local village of Ras al Hadd. It is home to a well-known turtle reserve.
One of the most popular eco-tourism activities in Oman is turtle viewing and tours. Oman is home to several important nesting sites of four different species of turtles: the endangered Green Turtle, the Olive Ridley Turtle, the Loggerhead Turtle, and the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle.
While it’s not known to many, the best time to travel and see the turtle hatching in Oman is during summertime, between May and September. Because Oman is located in the Middle East and understandably so, there is always that hesitation in traveling due to the temperature and humidity. Truth is, Ras Al Hadd (where the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is located) enjoys very comfortable weather all throughout the year and during summertime as well, averaging from 25°c to 36°c.

is a water-filled depression in the limestone of eastern Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman, very close to the Al Sharqiyah region just off the highway to Sur, few kilometers before Tiwi.
The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone. However, locals used to believe this sinkhole in the shape of a water well was created by a meteorite, hence the Arabic name Hawiyyat Najm which means “the deep well of the (falling) star”.

occupying a waterfront spot on the harbor of Old Muscat, Al Alam Palace is the official ceremonial palace of the Sultan of Oman. Mushroom-shaped columns and a vivid gold-and-blue facade make it one of Muscat’s most arresting sights.
The Palace is surrounded by a number of interesting government buildings, including the Ministry of Finance, which has a beautiful gate that visitors to the palace should not miss. You can see the Ministry of Finance gate by walking along the right side arches of the palace and passing through one of the two entrances.

🗻 is a mountain located in northeastern Oman north of the town of Al-Hamra.
It is the highest mountain in Oman, and is part of the Jebel Akhdar or Jabal Akhdar Mountains, which in turn belongs to the Hajar range. The mountain is a popular sightseeing area located 240 km (150 mi) from Muscat.
It is known as Jabal Shams because it is the first place to receive sunrise in Oman due to its high peak.
In the summer, the temperature is around 20 °C (68 °F) and in the winter it drops to less than 0 °C (32 °F). Jabal Shams also hosts Al Nakhur Canyon which is labeled as the Grand Canyon of Arabia.

is one of the largest, most imposing structures in Oman. It is the country’s main mosque and is considered one of the world’s most important and sizable mosques. It is located in the capital Muscat and captivates its visitors with the most beautiful unique and traditional architectural elements. The Grand Muscat mosque bears the name of its builder, Sultan Qaboos, and officially opened in 2001 after six years of construction. The entire complex was built from 300,000 tons of sandstone and covers an incredible 40,000 square meters. The complex consists of a large men’s prayer hall, a smaller women’s prayer hall, five minarets symbolizing the five pillars of Islam, two large archways (Arabic “Riwaqs”), an Islamic information center and a library. The goal of the construction project was to build the largest Friday mosque in Oman in order to create a center for the promotion of Islamic literature and culture and the dissemination of the Ibadi form of Islam.

🏰 is a popular tourist destination and a beautiful castle was built in the 17th century by Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Yarubi. Lies in the heart of Nizwa city, Nizwa Fort is famous in the Arab region for its cultural diverse significance and history. The most visited monument in the Oman, Nizwa Fort was built over a stream and took almost 12 years to complete. Due to the cultural and religous significance of the city, the Fort was a permanent seat for the noteable Imams (in Islam, the one who leads) and Walis (the pious) of that time. No wonder, due to such significance, the town of Nizwa served as the capital of Oman’s long history with several turbulence.

is in Nakhal. It lies on the slopes of the Wadi Mistal mountains at an altitude of approximately 1,500 metres (4,900 ft) above sea level in the Western Hajar Mountains.
The village is known for its terraced gardens and orchards, where pomegranates, apricots, peaches and dates are grown. Unlike the majority of Oman, where the climate is hot and dry, the village enjoys mild temperatures in summer and cold winters, thanks to its altitude and location.
