Bat Tombs are a significant archaeological site located in the Al Dhahirah region, near the village of Bat. These tombs date back to the 3rd millennium BCE and are part of the larger Bat, Al-Khutm, and Al-Ayn UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its historical and cultural importance.

The beehive shaped tombs are built from local stone and have a distinctive beehive shape, similar to other Bronze Age tombs found in the region.

The tombs were used for collective burials, reflecting the funerary practices of the Umm an-Nar culture.

The site is associated with one of the most important early settlements in Oman, with evidence of trade and advanced construction techniques.

Nearby structures include the Al-Khutm tower, believed to be a fortification or water management structure, and the Al-Ayn tombs, which are well-preserved examples of Bronze Age architecture.

The site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 due to its historical importance.

The Bat Tombs, along with Al-Ayn and Al-Khutm, are among the best-preserved remnants of the Bronze Age in the Arabian Peninsula and continue to attract archaeologists and history enthusiasts worldwide.
