The Canadian Northern Railway Standard Third Class station design was flexible enough to allow additions and modifications as local business conditions warranted. Our Camrose depot was built in 1911, and as built identical to the Meeting Creek station. Soon however the growth of the community meant expansions were necessary to handle the increasing express and passenger traffic. In the early 1950's the station was once again enlarged leaving the layout that exists today. At its height, the station housed an office for the local agent, a clerk/cashier, and a 24/7 train order operator (also known historically as a telegraph operator). Behind the station was a large freight house. Over the years the agent's apartment was home to several families, and at the end of its CN service, used as a bunkhouse for Hanna-based train crews. Be sure and visit each of the station buildings in the Canadian Northern Society's regional collection.

The first Hudson's Bay location in the lower mainland originally started as a fur trading post in current day Derby Reach in 1827. The trading post was relocated to Fort Langley in 1839, as the old post was due to erode into the Fraser River and they were starting to shift their focus away from the fur trade.

Rosalie Yeomans worked as David Spencer's secretary until she took over her family's store and post office. The store became the hub of the community and is still in operation today as the Walnut Grove Food Market. Today Rosalie rests in peace in the Fort Langley Cemetery.
