Declarado Conjunto Monumental Histórico mediante la Ley 91 de diciembre de 1976, modificada por la Ley 16 de 22 de mayo de 2007, el Sitio Arqueológico de Panamá Viejo corresponde al asiento donde fue fundada la ciudad de Panamá el 15 de agosto de 1519 por Pedrarias Dávila y comprende las ruinas del primer asentamiento europeo sobre el litoral pacífico americano, así como los vestigios de los primeros habitantes del istmo.

Este día se celebra para resaltar nuestros valores culturales y educativos. Panamá Viejo es un símbolo de nuestra cultura, identidad e historia, y tiene un valor inmenso tanto para los panameños como para el mundo entero. Esto le ha ganado el nombramiento de Patrimonio Histórico de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.

La fundación de Panamá Viejo dio origen a la Ciudad de Panamá de hoy – una ciudad que es centro de comunicaciones, servicios y comercio internacional. Al celebrar los 505 años de fundación de Panamá Viejo, celebramos su riqueza histórica, arqueológica y cultural.

Recordando que mañana jueves 15 de agosto, se estará celebrando la Fundación de Panamá Viejo, les informamos de las diversas actividades que se estarán celebrando hasta el domingo 18 de agosto.
Jornada de puertas abiertas:

Jueves 15 de agosto- 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Sábado 17 de agosto- 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Domingo 18 de agosto- 8:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Podrás disfrutar de ventas de comidas y bebidas, atracciones para niños, venta de artesanías, exposición de arte, tarima con presentaciones musicales, recorridos guiados y mucho más.
