Arequipa, “The White City”

History
Arequipa, known as the "White City" due to its colonial architecture of sillar, was founded on August 15, 1540. Strategically located on the high plateau, it has become an important commercial and cultural center, with indigenous and Hispanic influence. Its landscape combines majestic volcanoes such as Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu with beautiful urban and natural spaces.

Altitude and Distances
- Altitude: Approximately 2,335 meters (7,660 feet) above sea level.
- Distances: 100 km (62 miles) from the Colca Canyon and 1,000 km (620 miles) from Lima.
