This extremely photogenic lake is located about 75 miles to the northwest of Cusco and just south of Machu Picchu. Humantay sits snugly between Humantay Mountain and Salkantay Mountain. In fact, it is a popular branch-off hike when trekking along the Salkantay Trail, an incredibly scenic alternative to the Inca Trail. Humantay falls along the Vilcabamba mountain range.
Humantay Lake is most well known for its insanely bright blue and green water and its snow-capped mountain backdrop. These fantastic colors come from the mineral-filled runoff from the melting glaciers around the Humantay and Salkantay Mountains.

About 60 kilometers southeast of the city of Cusco, on the magnificent Ausangate glacier, at a height of 5,200 meters above sea level, is the amazing and vibrant rock formation known as Vinicunca.
Only 40 years ago, when temperatures began to rise and the snow started to melt, did this stunning environment—which had been long hidden by heavy ice—come to view. The result was a completely different landscape.

This neighborhood of artisans, with narrow streets and hidden nooks, seems to want to tell us the innumerable secrets of the Imperial City. Cradle of ancient families dedicated to popular crafts, it is a paradise made of stone and colonial houses trapped in time that shine in broad daylight.
At night, the story changes. The neighborhood is transformed into a kaleidoscope of party, color and music that is impossible to resist. In short, you don't just have to know San Blas: you have to live it.

During the rule of the Inca Pachacutec, Ollantaytambo's town, ceremonial center, and stronghold were constructed. This enclosure is a prime example of both excellent urban planning and Inca stone-carving prowess. At this time, Ollantaytambo's cobbled streets and terraces, where the locals still reside, are still present.

These salt pans have been in operation for more than 500 years. To this day, they are mined by local families for their special, beloved Peruvian pink salt.

The Qeswachaka Bridge is 28 meters long and suspended 30 meters above the Apurímac River. It was part of the huge network of Inca roads (Qhapac ñan) that led to the Inca City of Machu Picchu. Before the construction of Machu Picchu began, they surveyed the mountaintop site. They built canals to carry freshwater to different sectors of the city. Incredibly, the Inca didn’t use steel or iron tools, nor the wheel, to make the temples, living quarters, and stone steps. Instead, they utilized simple materials such as stone, wood, and bronze. Rows of terraces were also constructed along the mountainsides for support. Without them, Machu Picchu would have tumbled down, unable to withstand centuries existing in a region prone to earthquakes and annual heavy rain.
