"This photo was taken after 4 grueling days on the Inca Trail, at high altitude, a few few hundred feet below our next and last campsite before reaching the ruins of Machu Picchu. Exhausted, I found myself assuming I was alone on the quiet tail near KM 35 of our trek. I stopped and took a deep breath to simply respect the beauty yet sheer power and ruggedness of these sacred mountains and valleys, of which a millennia of generations walked the same steps before me - most of whom were barefoot. It reminded me of my humanness in the ability to overcome challenges, building character and tenacity, especially in moments beyond our control
