Como te contamos en líneas anteriores, si viajas a la ciudad del Cusco, debes tener en cuenta que la altura es de 3,399 m s.n.m, por ello recomendamos lo siguiente para evitar el soroche:

✔️Aclimatarse: Es necesario que los primeros días de viaje no se realicen actividades que incluyan esfuerzo físico.
✔️Evitar consumir alimentos pesados: Antes de emprender tu viaje, debes evitar consumir alimentos difíciles de digerir. Es mejor mantener una dieta blanda.
✔️Pastillas para el soroche o mal de altura: Son muy efectivas y se pueden comprar sin receta. Su consumo debe ser una dosis cada 12 horas, estas ayudarán a la irrigación sanguínea.
✔️Beber Agua: El agua es tu mejor aliado. Toma abundante líquido. Debido a que la altura deshidrata, es recomendable beber entre 4 a 5 litros de agua por día.
✔️Chacchar hojas de coca o consumir caramelos de coca: Una vez que hayas llegado a tu destino, se recomienda masticar la hoja de coca y colocarlas a un lado de la boca sin tragarlas. Simplemente se debe absorber el jugo que segregan.

El Soroche o también conocido como Mal de altura, se origina por la Hipoxia o falta de oxígeno en el organismo debido a la alta presión atmosférica que caracteriza a los lugares con mayor elevación sobre el nivel del mar.

When to visit, what to wear and what to take on the INCA TRAIL?

To enjoy the climate and nature during the Inca trail, the best time to travel to Machu Picchu is between May and September, during the months with the best temperature for long walks. In this period, the chance of heavy rains is quite small, even with the predominantly warm weather over the days. It is indicated the use of clothes light but comfortable, so as not to disturb during the course.

Take hats, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent and containers for drinking water. Another detail that cannot be forgotten is that during the nights, the temperature drops quite a bit in the region. So do not forget to bring sweaters, pants, hats, gloves and other accessories to face the chilly nights of Machu Picchu.

It's the most famous in South America – perhaps the world – and a must-do, life-changing experience. the Inca Trail through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu is both arduous and awe-inspiring. Four days of cold, pain and exhaustion dissipate as the mist lifts to reveal the emerald peaks and terraced ruins of the mystical ancient city.

• The best time to visit is May through September. Sure, it's the busy season (especially June to August), but it's also the dry season. And trust us, you don't want to visit during rainy season! Note that the Inca Trail is closed February.
• Make your Inca Trail reservations several months in advance – up to a year if you're going during peak season. You can only visit with a licensed agency, and spots book up quickly.
• Choose your trekking agency carefully. Shop around and ask lots of questions: what you'll have to carry, how many people to a tent, how many porters for the group, if there are arrangements for special diets. It's worth paying more for a reputable agency that treats its porters well and respects the environment. We've recommended a tour we like at the end of this article.
• No matter what time of year, the trail gets cold at night. Bring a warm sleeping bag and layer your clothes.
• Other must-brings: sturdy shoes, a flashlight (with fresh batteries), water-purification tablets, high-calorie snacks and a basic first-aid kit.
• Take a stash of small Peruvian currency for buying bottled water and snacks along the way, as well as for tipping the guide, cook and porters.
• If you can't get an Inca Trail reservation, don't despair. There's always Kuélap as an excellent alternative or you can check out the Lares Trek or the Salkantay Trek.
• Altitude sickness is serious and can ruin your trip. The biggest mistake you can make is to fly directly to Cuzco (3326m/10,910ft) and expect to hike the next day. Give yourself a few days to adjust to the altitude first
