To reach Checacupe, a town in the Cusco region of Peru, you typically start your journey in Cusco city. From there, you can take a bus or a private vehicle heading south on the Interoceanic Highway (PE-3S) towards Sicuani. The journey covers approximately 100 kilometers and takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you'll pass through the scenic Andean landscapes, small villages, and various archaeological sites that provide a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage.
Once you arrive in Sicuani, you need to continue south for another 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Checacupe. This leg of the journey can be done by taking a local bus, a colectivo (shared taxi), or a private car. Checacupe is known for its picturesque colonial bridge and the Inca rope bridge, which are major attractions. The town also serves as a gateway to the colorful Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain, a less crowded alternative to the more famous Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain.
