Today is Peru's national Flag Day! It is celebrated on the anniversary of the Battle of Arica where Francisco Boloñesi and his troops fought heroically to keep the area which now forms part of modern day Chile.

A few images from Qollorr'iti, an annual pilgrimage to a small chapel on Apu Ausangate, the highest and most sacred mountain in Cusco. This is an amazing example of Andean syncrestism, the fusion of traditional beliefs and Catholicism.

New "Nazca" lines have been uncovered, although it seems as though they are not actually Nazca.

Researchers have discovered dozens of new Nazca lines in Peru between the towns Nazca and Palpa. Some are believed to have been created from around 500 BCE to 200 CE.
