The Peru Independence Day, also known as Fiestas Patrias, is celebrated on July 28th every year in Peru. This day commemorates the liberation of Peru from Spain. Every year every street of Peru is filled with people celebrating, many colorful decorations and the Peruvian flag on every corner. Parades that show the great diversity of dances and music of the country are also very typical.

This 2021 celebration is different for two reasons, because of the pandemic, but also because on 28 July 2021 it is the Bicentennial - 200 years since Peru's proclamation of Independence! In Cusco there will be public celebrations to mark this very special occasion, so let’s soak up the atmosphere in the Peruvian capital of culture and tourism, and let’s toast to Peru together! This will take place on the 27th of July .
