A new Inca Trail has been discovered. This leads to the area of Wayraqtambo, located behind Machu Picchu.
The trail is about a mile in length; it is between 1.20 and 1.40 meters wide, these measurements vary with topography.
Still, the Machu Picchu Park employees are working to clean up and clear the path from the brush and trees that cover it.
For now, you can only see some of the retaining walls,which stand up to three meters high. It also noteworthy that one of the most impressive finds so far is a tunnel about five meters long, which is located at 2,700 meters above sea level.

This trail and tunnel are some of the finest examples of Inca engineering that we know of. It was verified that the tunnel was built after the main road collapsed, so our ancestors fractured rock and began the work.
