Our Story. Your story.
Analia Sarfati and Percy Sanchez, a young couple from Lima, Peru, and Santiago, their son, Santiago, of two years old, decided to start this adventure in 1999. They traveled along the beaches, rivers, valleys and huge mountains of Peru, but none of these wonders ever had the same effect as of the rainforests. They fell in love with the Amazon River and its jungle. They searched for the best place to build the lodge, far from civilization, and with effort and with the help of the people of San Juan de Yanayacu, a dream of harmony came true. They have treated Muyuna as a child ever since. Muyuna tries to show the world a sustainable approach to responsible tourism. Many travelers have been left trapped by Muyuna’s legend; returning more than once to where it all started.
Muyuna is located 140 kms. up the Amazon River, very far from Iquitos, about a 3 hours ride in a speed boat. This is a small rainforest lodge, secluded, intimate, that GUARANTEES the observation of monkeys, birds, sloths, pink dolphins, macaws, capybaras, caimans, etc., in their own habitat. The bungalows are comfortable. They have en-suite bathrooms and terraces facing the river. As the lodge is small, the personalized service quality is comparable with luxury hotels, always maintaining respect for the environment.
We hope you can help us continue this story. If you have ever had the chance to come, you are now part of it.
