ITINERARY:
FIRST DAY: AREQUIPA – CHIVAY – CRUZ DEL CONDOR - CABANACONDE – SAN JUAN (1ST OVERNIGHT)
3:00-3:30am – Pick-up tourists at their respective hotels in tourist transport to take them to the Colca Canyon. After a 3-hour journey, we’ll stop in the first town of Chivay to eat breakfast.
Afterwards, we’ll continue on to the Cruz del Condor. Here, we will spend 30 minutes enjoying the fabulous flight of the condors and the impressive scale of the canyon. Next, we’ll arrive in the town of Cabanaconde (located at 3287 m.a.s.l.) where we will begin the descent to the town of San Juan de Chuccho. We’ll hike for about 3 hours down to the Colca River, cross a suspension bridge, and end the first day’s hike in San Juan where we’ll eat lunch. Later, we can learn about some native fruits in the area as well as medicinal plants. Here we will also eat dinner and spend time in a family’s house. We will spend the night here, ending the first day ofthe tour.
SECOND DAY: SAN JUAN – COSÑIRHUA – MALATA – OASIS SANGALLE (2ND OVERNIGHT)
We’ll eat breakfast at the agreed upon time, afterwards continuing our journey (2 hrs 30 min aprox) through the depths of the canyon, visiting the towns of Cosñirhua, Malata and ending the day at the Oasis – Sangalle “Paraiso Las Palmeras Lodge.” Here we will eat lunch and dinner, enjoy the pool and the exotic places such as the paths down to the river and the suspension bridge.
THIRD DAY: OASIS SANGALLE – CABANACONDE -ANTAHUILEQUE -MACA – HOT SPRINGS – CHIVAY – PATAPAMPA – AREQUIPA
We’ll get up at 5am to start the climb up to Cabanaconde. Once we reach the top, we’ll eat breakfast in the designated restaurant, later boarding the bus heading to Chivay. We’ll make several stops on the way to appreciate the terrace work of the Incans and pre-Incans, to observe the different towns of the Colca, and enjoy the hot springs. Once we arrive in Chivay, we’ll eat lunch at the agreed upon time, and then continue on to Arequipa, making two more stops along the way: one at an Andes lookout point and the other at the national reserve of Aguada Blanca. We’ll get back to Arequipa around 5:30pm, bringing an end to this fascinating adventure in the Colca.
