Every year Cusco hosts one of the most spectacular celebrations in Peru: Inti Raymi. Deeply rooted in Inca tradition, the Sun Festival honors the Sun, the revered father of the Inca emperors. Celebrated during the winter solstice, it marks the beginning of the Inca calendar year.

But that's not all we celebrate today. Agriculture has been a cornerstone of our history and remains vital to our lives. For centuries, we have cultivated and domesticated a variety of species to sustain our communities. On this Farmers' Day in Peru, we want to express our deep gratitude by recognizing and thanking the hardworking people who ensure that we have food on our tables every day. Thank you!

A few days ago, Peruvian Soul had the honor of being part of the XII Encuentro de Turismo Rural Comunitario, “Turismo Comunitario, experiencias que trascienden” in the Amazonas region. Over the course of three inspiring days, from December 6 to 8, we had the opportunity to meet both familiar faces and new friends, and to engage in enriching discussions and exchange insights with representatives from 75 rural communities in 14 regions of Peru.

From December 6th to 8th, Chachapoyas became the heart of the events with interesting forums, and enriching excursions. We immersed ourselves in discussions that shed light on the invaluable contributions of community-based tourism, and had the opportunity to share our passion for authentic experiences.

Thanks to the organizers for extending the invitation, allowing us to be a part of this experience. We are deeply honored and look forward to continuing our journey of collaboration, growth, and shared learning within the realm of community-based tourism. 🤝

Great news from UNESCO! Today, the "practices and meanings associated with the preparation and consumption of ceviche, an expression of traditional Peruvian cuisine" have earned a spot on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List. 🎉
Ceviche is not only one of the most popular and emblematic dishes of Peruvian cuisine, but also a rich tapestry of our social history. Its roots go back to pre-Columbian times, when fish cubes were seasoned with salt, pepper and "tumbo". Over time, lime juice replaced "tumbo" during the Spanish conquest, and a fusion of Asian culinary influences shaped the world-famous ceviche we enjoy today.
While you'll find variations from Mexico to Chile, what sets Peruvian ceviche apart is its simplicity: fresh fish, lime, aji limo, and onion, pure and fresh. It's our most cherished dish and now officially recognized by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage. 👏

This December, Papanoel Trekero is going to Huancaya!

Santa will bring a fun Christmas day filled with gifts, games, art and music activities for 80 students. We will also ensure each child receives a school kit, setting them up for a great start to the school year.

But that's not all. This year's goal is even more ambitious. Papanoel Trekero will fund a children's play area within the local school, providing access to safe recreational activities for these kids.

This marks the first time the project will fund infrastructure for a local school—a challenging yet rewarding endeavor that will significantly impact the students' daily lives. To achieve this, we need to raise S/30,000 (US$ 7930) by December 8th, and we are confident that, with everyone's help, we will reach this goal.

First Anne has been so exceptional in getting this trip organized for me. She and I have been communicating for 3 yrs. She even took time out to meet me at the airport. I couldn't have asked for a better organization person on my team then Anne. Then there is Nancy, who not only explained details of Lima and the historical aspect of this wonderful city. She also accomplished me get my first Peruvian tattoo. I will never forget her. My buddy Guido, who showed me Cusco in a person touch. By giving me details of the churches that I'm sure most will never know, to introducing me to Cusco beer and spending an incredible amount of time just making me feel at home. None of them will ever be forgotten... My team to hike Ausangate and rainbow mountain were incredibly patient and so professional with me. Always made me feel like family without a question.
