The whale season has officially started! Every year around this time, we are witnesses to the spectacle that humpback whales give us. Many people know that these playful animals can be seen around Iceland, Australia, Hawaii, and New Zealand, but did you know you can actually see them in Peru? These whales usually migrate around 25000 km from polar waters, where they feed, to tropical and subtropical waters, which have the perfect conditions for breeding and calving. The presence of those large cetaceans in northern Peru goes from July to October and calculations have shown that around 5000 individuals arrive on our northern coasts following the Humbolt current each year! Six months later, we are very happy to share with you that our donations have been well received, and invested in a new and smaller version of Kipi, that will keep bringing education to many kids in remote areas in their own native language.
