One of the most striking features of the Santa Catalina Monastery is its brightly colored buildings that made this convent memorable and colorful.

City explorations – Cusco

A city that attracts attention for its beauty and traditions. Its architecture in the streets, squares, valleys, and villages reflects its historical past by being the center of the Inca imperium.

Visitors can appreciate monuments close to the Main Square such as the Cathedral and Templo de Qoricancha, and learn first hand about the culture and traditions with local people in the markets, or by visiting the museums. They can also get lost exploring the Secret Valley, Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu a few hours from the city center.

Remote Escapes - Choquequirao trek in Cusco

Machu Picchu was not the only Inca archaeological complex found in Cusco. Known as the sister city of Machu Picchu, the mysterious, amazing, and hidden Inca citadel of Choquequirao is located in the Vilcabamba Range over the Apurimac River Canyon. For hundreds of years, these ruins were covered by vegetation, until it was found in 1909 by Hiram Bingham. According to history, Choquequirao was the last space that the rebel Incas of Vilcabamba inhabited.
