Argentina's hedonistic capital has been reinventing itself since the 19th century, blurring the lines between night and day, past and future, Europe and Latin America.

Buzzing with its own unique energy, Buenos Aires is a heady mix of faded elegance and edgy modernity, bursting with color, cuisine, and culture.

It’s a city that never stops moving, as our Travel Designer Mark discovered on his recent scouting trip.

Put Buenos Aires on your 2025 map, and we’ll share the exact coordinates of its highlights in our upcoming hotlist.

"Peru-based travel outfitter Aracari’s online shop started in 2021 with a goal of showcasing “Andean luxury," writes journalist Lebawit Lily Girma. "By that they mean, the highest-quality work of Peruvian designers and artisans from across the South American mountain region, including communities in Bolivia and Ecuador..."

There are those experiences that simply take your breath away. Leave you changed, altered in some way from what you were before.

This it seems to us, is the only fitting description of a visit to Wilma Maynas in the district of Rímac, Lima. In this shanty town - live the largest urban community of the indigenous Amazonian Shipibo people whose origins reach deep into the jungles of Peru.

Kene is the traditional art form practiced by these peoples and Wilma is a master of her craft. The intricate patterns tell a story. Jagged short strokes symbolise the teeth of the piraña, a respected and protective force. Thick lines are the trees, curves the fish, sweeping, longer shapes, the anaconda.

As Wilma paints, using a makeshift tool replacing what would be fashioned from a branch in the Amazon, she sings. At once, haunting and humbling - it’s a sound we won’t ever forget.

Marisol, together with our creative team, visited Wilma last week whilst exploring Lima - it was the perfect experience to prelude our trip to the jungle.

A CAUSE FOR PAUSE // It’s no secret that in the Andes, textile experiences are a dime a dozen. Like all things, with authenticity comes the disingenuous, commerciality put before connection. Not here – not ever.

Precisely why our ears pricked with news of pioneering friends of ours paving the way for an immersive experience fusing travel with something altogether more heightened, more real for our travelers.

The wears of have been exhibited on the Aracari Shop since our inception. Created by weavers hailing from high Andean communities largely untouched by modernity, PALLAY celebrates traditions threaded through those who live here. And in 2025, you can witness that truth for yourself.

“At PALLAY, we are a bridge that connects high Andean culture with the world,” says Ursula Dulanto, Community Manager and one of four stakeholders at PALLAY.

Ursula spends much of her time with the weavers, and for those who opt to visit this incredibly rural weaving community – it’s Ursula herself who will be your guide...

“Our immersive experience takes place with the Challhuaccocha community. Quite unlike anything else travelers will have seen before, this is an immersive cultural experience, seeing firsthand the weaving process that has been practiced for centuries,” Ursula tells us.

“And until you have tried the technique for yourself, you cannot fathom the difficulty of it.”

This December marks 10 years since PALLAY’s founder Alejandra first began working with the communities. One whole decade of empowering, connecting, and preserving. And yet that is but just a speck on the timeline of a tradition that spans millennia.

For a moment imagine hearing that history from those who have lived it. That’s enough to take us to Challwaccocha, how about you?

💼 PADDINGTON GOES TO PERU // A particularly charming Peruvian is set to retrace his roots this month. Famously well-mannered, curious, and disarmingly innocent - he is never without an emergency supply of marmalade sandwiches…

Yes, Paddington Bear is headed back to Peru. His adopted home of London has marked the occasion with a new mural unveiled by Waterloo station designed by Peruvian artist Gisella Stapleton, whose work draws from Latin American folklore and popular art.

But how are we celebrating Paddington's homecoming? With an itinerary dedicated to his namesake species and other such wildlife who inhabit the forests and jungles of Peru.

A 12-day adventure handpicked for families, from a bear recovery center in the dry forests of northern Peru to Machu Picchu – where Paddington lookalikes are often spotted plodding around the quietest of the Inca terraces, to the wilds of the Amazon - where experiences are perfectly tailored to younger intrepid explorers. See you there, Paddington!

BEHIND THE SCENES IN LIMA // Our coastal capital may be one of the most well-known of Peru's many hotspots, but visit with us, and it's an altogether deeper and different experience.

From the historical heart of the city to the Santo Domingo convent explored with our longtime specialist Luis Villacorta - one of the world's leading authorities on the capital's architecture - to lesser-visited museums like De Osma Muesum and Museo Larco - this is how you really get to know the past and present of Lima.

FROM THE ARCHIVES // Winding through the Andes aboard the luxurious Andean Explora sleeper train is an unforgettable experience that leaves an indelible imprint on any traveler’s memory—no matter how well-traveled they may be.

As was certainly the case for our founder, Marisol, who captured these snaps during one of the debut departures in 2017. “Over the next three days I would travel more than 450 miles (725km) across the Peruvian Andes on a train climbing to 14,270ft (4,350m) – and it’s safe to say I was pretty excited,” - she wrote at the time. Safe to say the experience was indeed one filled with wonder.

Fast-forward to today, and the luxurious route has become an essential part of our bespoke itinerary: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘈𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭: 𝘓𝘶𝘹𝘶𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘶 𝘣𝘺 𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘭 - which you can find in full here: https://buff.ly/3dFJyo6

Where the jungle-clad Sierra Nevada Mountains sweep down to meet the Caribbean Sea, Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona offers 150 square kilometers of protected paradise. Here, Colombia’s most untouched beaches stretch along a coastline of secluded coves framed by towering volcanic boulders and lush tropical forests - an enchanting landscape that makes it one of our favourite South American National Parks beyond obvious choices and tourist trails.

In the Ica region of Peru, Paracas is where the desert meets the sea. It's also where you'll find our friend, a local scallop farmer and the only person permitted to have his modest lodgings on the national reserve.

Part of our collection of experiences, Aracari travellers are able to spend the day on the bay in Paracas, farming and sampling fresh scallops aboard a small fishing vessel - just as Marisol did when taking these photos this time last year - before being invited back to the onshore lodgings to enjoy a homecooked meal over conversation and connection with the coastal locals.

It's the kind of experience that defines the Aracari difference. To find out more, hit the link in our bio now. https://buff.ly/3nA1dm4

The sleepy town of Paraty, cradled between emerald mountains and sapphire waters, is a place where time stands still. Its cobbled streets, flanked by brightly colored colonial buildings, remain almost untouched since the 16th century and steep, jungled mountains plunge down to meet its island-studded bay.

Just a three-hour drive from the bustling metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, Paraty serves as a serene refuge—a peaceful counterpoint to the energy and vibrancy of the city. That’s precisely why we've woven it into our itinerary A Tale of Two Halves: Peru and Brazil—an adventure of striking contrasts, from the ancient wonders of Inca history to the sun-kissed shores of Copacabana and the rhythmic pulse of samba bars.
