🇰🇪Nothing beats waking up on Safari listening to the sounds off the Mara🇰🇪

🐘 Nestling in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara river, the camp's setting is magical - so much so that almost a century ago it was reserved exclusively for Kenya's colonial Governors.🐘

🦓The Mara's waters are teeming with crocodile, hippo and bird life and some of the 37 luxury tents line the riverbank while others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara National Reserve.🦓

🦛Everything is under canvas including the ensuite bathrooms, the bar tent overlooking the river and the dining tent with its views across the plains. Gas and paraffin lamps are used for lighting.🦛

🇮🇸Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, with a drop of some 60 meters and a width of 25 meters, and you can walk right up to, but be prepared to be drenched. It is just overwhelming standing next to it🇮🇸

🐓It’s unsurprising that the hotel restaurant is yet another strut to the hotels uplifting philosophy. For those whose body is a temple there are superfoods aplenty and salads and veggie bowls straight from the hotel’s farm. The imaginative chefs create the likes of sweet mizithra cheese with blood orange and lavender oil or octopus with split peas, crispy capers and a slug of Chios Mastiha liqueur can’t fail to lift your mood.🐓

🐓The hotel’s largely self-sufficient when it comes to ingredients, but they have links with local fishermen and artisans. And the generous breakfast offering shows off the fabulous produce while powering you up for the day with dishes such as raspberry-ripple chia pudding with coconut milk; omelette with goat’s cheese, mint and cherry tomatoes; or a dairy jar with tahini, lavender and granola.🐓

Generously sized rooms in earthy tones blend traditional features (built-in day beds, book nooks) with modern flourishes (superb mattresses, rain showers).🐚

🐚 Five whitewashed buildings – a mix of apartments, maisonettes, suites, and doubles – are scattered around peaceful gardens. True to vernacular architecture, interiors are minimalist but not austere: smooth concrete painted in a creamy palette, grey marble bathrooms, driftwood ladders draped with towels, and wardrobes screened by gauzy curtains.
