We’ve been a bit quiet over here .. integrating everything that came post-retreat and taking a little break to re-calibrate. But today I wanted to take a moment to celebrate this queen’s solar return by sharing these special moments, including some behind the scenes, reminiscing a bit on our last retreat together.

Happy birth day, Ariel. We love you in all of your Cancer fullness ✨🦀

So excited to work with this beautiful earth form during our Becoming retreat. We are super passionate about finding creative ways to work with our hands, so we like to weave experiences like this one into our journeys. Grateful to our sister for sharing her medicine with us.

Once the call of the True Self is heard not only with the heart but also with the mind and conscience there will be no way back to the way things have been. Sooner or later we will recognise that we no longer have any choice but to allow ourselves the extraordinary freedom to go all the way in this life. Because, after all, if we have begun to see through the illusory world that the ego creates and have heard the call of the True Self to live our lives for a greater purpose - what else is there to do?

Praying for these lands, for these people, for love, unity, and understanding to prevail over anger, separation, and oppression.

I’m sure by now you all have heard about the uprising of the Andean people against the Peruvian government. And I can only assume what the headlines are saying. Politics and violence and more politics.

The truth is, yes, there is a movement against the government here in Peru. But the unrest is a response to so much more than that. The indigenous peoples of these lands are angry, frustrated, and tired - and rightfully so - of the ongoing racism and oppression that the people in power have placed over these folks, not only in this political term, but for hundreds of years since they were colonized by Westerners. It is the same battle cry of every indigenous person in Latin America.

The people of the Andes are waking up and refusing to settle for the crumbs that the government gives to them, and they are fighting for their rights and for what belongs to them in the first place. They are also fighting to protect the natural resources that are being depleted at the expense of our Mother Earth.

And perhaps the people against the protests are right in some sense - perhaps the approach is not the best - but the point is, we are lacking empathy. There is a village that suffers, a village that has been ignored and manipulated under a system of oppression - a system of power that does not want the people to rise, and rather wants to keep them submissive.

This is what they are fighting for. It’s not about Castillo, or Boluarte, or any particular person in power. This is a sentiment of sadness, of frustration, and of discontentment. They want to be able to thrive in a culture that is rightfully theirs - they want to be able to preserve their traditions without the need to conform to capitalistic ideas placed upon them - they want a government that listens and cares for its people.

Family, I'm hopping on here to ask for your support on this beautiful project that we are organizing in Peru!

A big part of Awamayu's work is centered around the many ways in which we can give back to the communities that welcome us in their home. By collaborating directly with local leaders, we strive to understand the needs of the people and work hands-on on a variety of projects that help improve the quality of life and well-being of these communities. These projects vary based on the immediate needs of the community.

For our first community project, we are working with our brother Tatito, a Quechua man from Qoya, to build an ecological retreat center and country homestay on his family's land. The project is called "Ayllu Wasi," meaning "Community House" in Quechua. Our goal is to build a center that can serve as home base to share a variety of Andean customs and traditions, with locals, as well as with those that visit us from abroad. The Quechua culture is fading, with fewer and fewer children speaking their ancestors' native tongues, and the traditions are being forgotten. It is our intention to keep these traditions alive at Ayllu Wasi. We will be using the space to host workshops and classes for the children of the community, such as learning Quechua and an array of arts, crafts, and music. We will also use the space to receive folks from all over the world that want to learn about the Quechua way of life by being immersed in intimate experiences with the people of this land.

It's a big vision, and we need a lot of help, but we know that we will get there! In addition to receiving volunteers to come and help us build the center, at this stage, we are in a bigger need of funding. We need to raise the funds to be able to buy materials as well as pay our team of local maestros and construction workers for their work.

Every bit helps us achieve this dream, and we are calling on your help to make it happen! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, your contributions are making such an enormous impact on the communities of the Andes that need it.

Awamayu is an advocate for economically, environmentally, and culturally … Andrea Cerrilla needs your support for Ayllu Wasi - Volunteer Project in the Andes

🌵 10 Day Women’s Retreat
🪶 Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru
🗓️ June 29 - July 8, 2023

🌹 Sisters, we invite you to come back into connection with what is ours; with the medicine that lives within us, and all around us. This is a journey of remembering – remembering our true essence, our innate wholeness, our inherent belonging, and becoming more of who we are. A journey of acceptance, shedding, and re-birthing.

Together, we will embark on a 10-day pilgrimage to the Sacred Valley of Peru to connect to our divine feminine and deepen our connection to sacred plant medicines. We will explore the power of authentic expression, being in relationship with the natural world, building community, and continuing to weave the sacred sisterhood connection. This is a chance for us to step into our limitless potential.

The beauty of becoming; growing, blossoming, and embracing the seasons of change… Who are you becoming?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
During this journey we will:

✨ create a safe container to engage in a variety of workshops and healing spaces for women.

✨ brew our own Wachuma (San Pedro) medicine.

✨ sit in two ceremonies with Wachuma to deepen our connection with self, with nature, and with Spirit.

✨ sweat and pray together in a powerful inipi (sweat lodge) ceremony, coming together to support and empower each other from the deepness of our womb.

✨ attend a hands-on ceramics workshop where we’ll make our own ceremonial clay pieces.

✨ visit sacred sites and natural places with indigenous teachers where we’ll share grounded spiritual practices that you can integrate into your own life.

Following our retreat in July, we are offering an optional 3-day extension where we will have the opportunity to dive deeper with the medicine of the Andes, Wachuma, for a third ceremony.

We will journey to the special snow-capped Apu Ausangate, the 5th tallest mountain in Peru, known as the healer Apu of the Cusco region. Here, we will tap into our strength, courage, and determination to step into our higher purpose in life.

Keep an eye out for those doors! You never know what may be waiting on the other side of that opening …

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door; if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much that you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”

Remembering the importance of prayer; praying for all of our relations… but also praying for ourselves. How often do we forget to do this? Praying for ourselves means praying for the collective, because when we are well and provided for, then we can show up wholly for our communities. And when we show up for our communities, they can in turn support us. It is reciprocal. It is Ayni. It is all connected, and it is all so important. If you’ve ever experienced the power of real prayer, you will understand this. Grateful to of for always reminding of us of this very basic privilege that we all have access to, anywhere, any time. Prayer. So simple. And so vital. Gracias hermana del ama. Elevando el rezo a todas las partes del mundo!! 🙌🪶

Incredibly grateful to have this powerful sisterhood bond with these two to be able to hold such beautiful retreats with. Ariel, you hold us together with your calm, collected presence, helping us stay centered through and through. Candi, your enormous heart always reminds us to approach everything, and everyone, with open-hearted compassion. And me, well, we all know I’m good at planning things and organizing. I’m sure there is something juicier I could say here, but it’s always a bit strange writing about myself on these platforms. So I’ll just reiterate how grateful I am to be a part of this team, how passionate I am about this work, and how freakin’ in love I am with this life. A million times thank you, hermanas del alma. And a million times thank you, Great Spirit, for guiding me here.

And thank you to , the beautiful haven that held space for us during these intensely powerful 10 days. You guys were amazing, and we are so glad to have found our forever retreat home with you guys.

We’re so excited to already be planning our next journey. Stay tuned for an update on that soon ;)!

An artist at heart and a humble steward of the Earth, Andrea is passionate about helping folks reconnect with the Earth and with themselves through a variety of natural modalities. Andrea brings her huge heart and grounding energy into everything she does. A magician experimenting with herbalism and plant dyes, she explores a deep creative connection with plant consciousness and the elements.

Andrea birthed Awamayu. She is the foundation and keeper of these culturally-responsible travel experiences. Dedicated to establishing authentic and lasting connections with the locals of this land, Andrea acts as our intercultural bridge between the Western world and the Quechua communities with whom we work. She holds our retreats with grace and humility, always oriented towards reciprocity and harmony. Andrea teaches us what it means to live in right relationship, in ayni. A deep bow of gratitude to Andrea for walking the path of the New Earth and bringing the Awamayu vision to life.
