Here you’ll get to participate in an experience that you’ll remember for a long time: the preparation of a typical Pachamanca meal prepared amidst a spectacular mountain setting! Of course, you’ll get to eat the dish you just prepared afterwards, as you get some rest from the hike. What a privilege to have the local herder open her house and share her life with you for a day!

The Lares Trek is a unique trekking experience that takes adventurers through the remote and beautiful Lares Valley, offering an authentic journey through traditional Andean villages, snow-capped mountains, and spectacular natural scenery.
De Heilige Vallei is een zeer vruchtbare vallei waar de Inca’s veel van hun heiligdommen en ceremoniële centra oprichtten. Vanwege de rijke Incahistorie is dit één van de belangrijkste toeristische trekpleisters van Peru. Hier liggen de Archeologische complexen van Pisac, Ollantaytambo, de terrassen van Chinchero, de landbouwterrassen van Moray en de zoutpannen van Salineras die al sinds de Incatijd in gebruik zijn. Indrukwekkende plekken waar mensenhanden eeuwen geleden prachtige bouwwerken maakten.
Het landschap is adembenemend, vooral het uitzicht op de besneeuwde toppen van de Pitusiray, de Sawasiray, de Chicón en de Pumahuanca is indrukwekkend. Een groot deel van de bevolking houdt sterk vast aan de traditionele leefwijzen, dat komt tot uiting in de taal die gesproken wordt (de inheemse taal Quechua), de kleding, de manier van landbewerking en de feesten en processies.
De meest bezochte stad in Peru is zonder twijfel de oude Incahoofdstad Cusco. Deze werd gebouwd in de vorm van een poema, het heilige symbool voor kracht en macht.
Het is een heerlijke stad om te verkennen: de gezellige wijk San Blas, de straatjes met eeuwenoude Incamuren, het Museo de Arte Pre- Colombino met een indrukwekkende collectie Moche keramiek, de Plaza de Armas met de kathedraal en de Iglesia de la Compañia de Jesús, de markt San Pedro en de zonnetempel Koricancha.
Octavio is gids en ontzettend trots op zijn cultuur en geniet er dan ook van om mensen te begeleiden bij het bezoeken van bijzondere plekken in Peru. Zijn liefde voor zijn land en zijn cultuur voel je door alles heen. Octavio spreekt Quechua, de oude indianentaal, Spaans, Engels en Nederlands.
