There are 2 lots of trekkers tackling the Famous Kokoda Trail to mark ANZAC Day, 25th April.
For those not clear, ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps, and stems from the WWI when troops from both countries fought together on the beaches and cliffs of Gallipoli in Turkey over 100 years ago. There was born the ANZAC Spirit that still remains entrenched in the hearts and minds of many.
So much so that these adventurers tackle the KOKODA in memory of the Australians and Papua New Guineans who fought along that bloody track in 1942.
What a great way to salute those brave men.
Thank you Kokoda Spirit.

Sharing this amazing story of traditional salt making. Back in the old days, Salt was very highly prized and it good that Jeremy Begofa has given us an insight as to how it I'd processed.

Fifi and Mati caretakers @ East N Sea, Hilahilage Mutuna, East Cape today.
East N Sea did not survive the Tourism downturn 3 years ago. The Sago Roof Bungalow, Backpacker and Home are all termite ridden and will be pulled down to make way for permanent buildings and renewed effort at tapping into the Tourism Industry in Milne Bay Province.
East N Sea is at Hilahilage Mutuna, which translates as "Deadmans Point".
The story goes that it was called this name because it was once a no man's land where cannibal meals were eaten.

I'm sure those days are behind us, but you just never know..do you?

Fifi and Mati say they'd rather eat fish, it tastes better..🤣

Visit to Yabam Island 29 Dec 23.
The Island is off the beaten track just 20 minutes from East Cape on the tip of Papua New Guinea.
Yabam and it's neighbour, Pahilele make up possibly the smallest ward in the province.
There are only 58 registered voters on both Islands. The current Councilor is on Yabam Is.
Madiu is his name.
Church services alternate between both islands.
There are no real amenities on the Island, it's very basic, but the locals are receptive.
Fishing is the only way the villagers can make money so everybody on the island is geared to a fisherman's lifestyle.
Any visitors bringing fishing gear are most welcome. Water is scarce on the island, as is betelnut.. BYO water, betelnut and everything else.

For Visits, you should contact.

Historical and Battle of Milne Bay Tour Guide available for this ship tomorrow..

This weekend, the town will be packed again with almost 3,000 tourists from Pacific Encounter.

Our ongoing appeal is that everyone must promote our province one way or another but we must protect what we are promoting. Business from the cruise industry brings dollars and we have the opportunity to make the best out of the industry.

Now and in future, more coordination and control will be implemented to see serious people will be involved in the cruise ship business. However it does not stop anyone to offer hospitality services when you are approached by a tourist.

Finally, thanks to LikLik PNG Festival for hosting the cruise ship tourists on shore and providing beautiful activities for them and also to those independent tour operators who are extremely doing well in providing tours in and around Alotau town.
See you all this Saturday 19.08.23
