WHERE IS BAIA LODGE? Kimbe is the main town and is also the capital of West New Britain.

We offer tailored Black Bass & Blue Water fishing Charters, Adventure Expeditions, Family Holidays & Private Yacht Charters in West New Britain, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 Baia Wilderness Lodge is on the largest Island off mainland Papua New Guinea. The Island is called New Britain which has two Provinces namely East and West New Britain. HOW TO GET TO BAIA:
From Cairns, an approximate one and half hour
plane ride to Port Moresby, the Capital of PNG. From Brisbane, flight time is approx 3hrs. A connection flight from POM is a one hour journey to Kimbe (Hoskins Airport). Upon arrival at Hoskins Airport in Kimbe, you will be met and transferred to the Liamo Reef Resort. The next morning we travel to Baia by sea or there is also the possibility of traveling half way by road and half by smaller vessel. Either way, the journey to Baia Lodge will take around 4.5 hours. That afternoon we begin fishing. The next four or more days you will be based at Baia Lodge fishing the several river systems that are within 15min to an hour from the Lodge for Black and Spot Tail Bass, Mangrove Jack, Jungle Perch, GT and other estuarine species. Access to these areas is with our purpose built 6 meter sport fishing vessels. On the final day there is the opportunity to have an early morning fish and then back to the Lodge around 10am to have an early lunch and prepare for the trip back to Kimbe (Liamo Reef Resort). Inshore Blue Water fishing can be done off the lodge at any time using the Baia sport fishing boats however to target the bigger off shore species, our 35 foot Game Boat, is also available at an additional charter cost. OTHER ACTIVITIES AT BAIA LODGE/GREAT FAMILY GETAWAY:

BEST MONTHS FOR BAIA SPORTFISHING LODGE
We are closed during the Wet Season of December through to the end of March. Best months are May to November. Once you have selected a month, you will then be provided with a few dates of when the fishing should be at its best. MINIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS REQUIRED TO MAKE BOOKING
We require a minimum of 6 guests to confirm a booking. In the event you have a group 5 or under we can add you to a current booking date to join a current group booking. MAXIMUM CLIENTS PER LODGE

FOOD AT BAIA SPORTFISHING LODGE
Meals are both Western and Asian style cuisine and of course fresh seafood is always part of the menu. PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU HAVE ANY FOOD ALLERGIES OR DON’T EAT ANY PARTICULAR FOOD. The lodge is not near any shops so menu cannot be changed once at the lodge. DRINKS AT BAIA SPORTFISHING LODGE
We do not store drinks at the lodge. We require guests to pre-order and prepay for their drinks. Drinks payment is payable when final balance due. An order form will be emailed to you to complete. Terms and conditions on the order form. Please order for day and evening consumption and for trips there and back. You do not need to order drinks whilst you are at Liamo Reef Resort. Rooms are large and very comfortable as twin share; however each person may have their own room when possible. All rooms have fans and 240 outlets throughout the building. Flushable toilets, hot water, and all the comforts of home make Baia Lodge a fantastic place to escape and experience a unique piece of paradise and spectacular tropical angling. 2 x long sleeve fishing shirts and pants if required.
3 x shorts

1 x cap
1 pair of sandal’s or sand shoes
1 x rain jacket (optional)
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Malaria preventive medication
Please visit your doctor at least 6 weeks prior to your journey and he will recommend what medication is required. Most likely doxycycline. Please note, when taking this medication you can be prone to sunburn. Sunscreen highly recommend. LAUNDRY

Last week, an amazing group of guys from Mackay and Victoria visited BAIA Sportfishing PNG. It was a fantastic week with a good variety of tropical species. Some magnificent Spotails and Bass, plus monster Jacks. Big GTs, are always a welcome by-catch in the rivers.

Fishing enthusiasts from Melbourne joined us for a quick 2-day trip at Liamo Reef Resort, aiming to catch the legendary Papuan Black Bass. Among the impressive catches were Black Bass and Spottails with great size Mangrove Jacks and groupers. They also enjoyed an unforgettable village experience with our local guides, featuring fresh fish cooked over an open fire, island exploration, and great company.
