This is Julius Wogim, an Artisan from Nukumba Camp along Fly River, which is 430 river miles from Kiunga town wharf.

He uses bush canes to create household furniture such as round coffee tables and chairs. His latest to his creation is this rack which he sold at K200 at OTDF office in Kiunga.

He is based at his village down river but occasionally visits Kiunga to sell his craft and buy his basic supplies.

Bala Eddie visited North Fly District in Western Province, flying from Port Moresby to Tabubil and then to Kiunga for work. During his brief stay with his team, he learned new things, visited communities along the Kiunga-Tabubil Highway, and made new friends with his humor. 【Dignitary attends tourism management training in Japan to revamp PNG Tourism】
Ms. Joybertina Piasinu is on a mission to revamp PNG’s Tourism consistent with the Tourism Sector Development Plan 2022 – 2026. She currently holds the position of Executive Manager with the PNG Tourism Industry Association Inc. (PNGTIA), a traditional partner of the PNG Tourism Promotion Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA) recognized as the National Tourism Office. PNGTIA works closely with PNGTPA for tourism development. She attended the JICA training program on “Local Tourism Development through Practical Management of Tourism Resources” at JICA四国 (JICA Shhikoku) for 3 weeks to learn about ideas to promote local tourism.
Tourism in PNG, like many countries in the Asia Pacific region and world, were greatly affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. Three years on, tourism is slowly picking up and visitor numbers are expected to increase. In 2022, PNG received 69, 736 international visitors, an increase of over 300% or 52,530 additional arrivals compared to 16, 846 in 2021.
Ms. Piasinu has started communications with the office of the Mayor of Miyoshi City on the possibility of NCD / PNG tourism and hospitality workers to be engaged to work in rural Japanese areas, to help address labor shortages in the tourism industry in Japan.

This place is called the Wowie (Wawoi) Falls, in Delta Fly District in Western Province. This picture was shared by Jobson Poka of the PNG security forces Team 56. I would love to go there at least once in my life. Our beautiful country has so many natural tourist attractions. God bless PNG 🇵🇬

Making a quick stopover at Gaziro Island to stretch our legs before embarking on a long journey to Upiara in the Bituri area. The scenic views here are breathtaking! Gaziro is a small island opposite Katatai village. The island is part of Parama but separated by a river. It's occupied by fishermen from Katatai village who speak the native Kiwai language. The island boasts a beautiful white sandy beach, perfect for picnics, camping, and game fishing.

Tureture Village

Tureture Village is situated along the coastline of South Fly District, approximately 20 kilometers from Daru Island.

The village is accessible only by water, requiring travel via speedboat or canoe due to its coastal location.

Tureture is home to the Kiwai speaking tribe people, who form the community's cultural backbone.
