Straight Outta Morobe

The first shipment of 200 head of cattle from Sialum in Tewai-Siassi, Morobe, arrived today at Keapara Jetty in Rigo, Central, for transportation to Launakalana Ranch.
The shipment, organised by Livestock Development Corporation. Is per the Marape Government’s direction to beef up the livestock industry in PNG.

I was walking along The Esplanade in Cairns last Friday (December 23, 2022) when I saw a list of Cairns’ ‘Sister Cities’.
The list included my hometown of Lae which has had ‘Sister City’ relations with Cairns since 1984.
I’m not sure whether Lae has made full use of this relationship, especially in terms of tourism, as Cairns is a tourism hotspot of Australia.
This is something for Lae City Authority and Morobe Provincial Government to strengthen, especially with Nadzab International Airport to open next year.- MN

Grow Our Own Rice

Rice fields of Bubia Prime Minister James Marape tonight posted on Facebook about growing rice in PNG. In line with his vision, National Agriculture Research Institute (NARI), Taiwan Technical Mission and Kumul Agriculture Ltd have embarked on growing nine-hectares of Paddy Rice and two-hectares of Upland Rice at Bubia outside Lae to provide the initial seed base for rice-growing on a large scale in PNG.
