Papua New Guinea Passport Visa-free Travel 2023

The number of visa free destinations accessible with a Papua New Guinea passport is 80. Please note, the list of visa-free countries is calculated to reflect the number of countries Papua New Guinea passport holders can enter without a visa, through a visa on arrival, and through the eTA.

For those who dont know yet - in simple terms, a visa is like a permit or authorization (in pidgin - Tok Orait) given to a foreigner or non citizen to enter, remain within or leave a country at a certain timeframe. Yes there are certain conditions attached to the visa grant for you to comply with when travelling to countries that require you to obtain a visa.

Visa-free access - meaning you do not require a visa to travel to these countries or your visa is granted upon your arrival (visa on arrival) when you go through the Immigration desk at the airport _the immigration officer will issue/stamp the visa on your passport.

Do note that some visa free countries/destinations would require you to remain in country for a certain period of time (eg. Your stay should not exceed 30 days etc..) upon arrival into that country. Always take note of your visa grant condition and abide by it failing which you can end up being charged or deported.

(Note _this is part of a long list, not all visa free countries are listed here. It is imperative that you recheck with the relevant authorities and embassies on visa status for each country BEFORE booking your trips/holidays as information can change anytime).

DELAY IN PROCESSING OF PNG PASSPORT APPLICATIONS

The Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA) wishes to inform its valued clients that you may continue to experience prolonged delays in processing times for your PNG passport applications.

The delays experienced now is due to an unprecedented increase in volume of PNG passport applications received by ICA in the last 6 months which has put a strain on the capacity of our systems to respond within our turn-around times. Due to the significant increase in the daily intake of passport applications including those submitted under our Fast-Track processing arrangement, ICA continues to triage these applications to minimize disruptions to the clients planned travels. Under this arrangement, we have been prioritizing passport applications for those that require emergency medical treatment abroad, students traveling to take up studies in educational institutions overseas and those travellers who can demonstrate to us the genuine need to obtain a passport quickly with evidence of their travel.

Similar circumstances are now being experienced by passport issuing authorities worldwide, partly attributed to effects of covid-19 pandemic on people and businesses including ICA. At this stage, we are doing all we can to manage this situation in a manner that is beneficial for both clients and staff. However, we aim to clear all outstanding passport applications in the coming weeks.

We therefore, seek your understanding while we work towards processing all passport applications in the coming weeks including those submitted under our Fast-Track processing arrangement.
