The Safety & Security Conference began on the 24th of September and concluded on the 26th of September 2024.

PNG Air was one of the stakeholders invited to participate in the first PNG Aviation Open Day at the APEC Haus.

The main purpose was to showcase the different aspects of aviation and encourage, raise awareness, and inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.

On Thursday, an opportunity was given to the students of selected schools who are curious about the aviation industry to:

*Gain invaluable insight into the PNG aviation industry
*Discover a multitude of roles in aviation operations
*Learn about the different career paths in aviation
*Network with industry professionals and experts

Our booth was visited by many eager Year 11 and 12 Science students who were very much interested in becoming engineers and pilots.

PNG's aviation industry looks to be in good hands with these keen up and comers.

We're hopeful they take our aviation industry to the next level by making bold strides forward in this fast moving industry.

PUMA Fuel Supply Issues Affecting Flights

PNG Air regrets to advise our customers and the travelling public of changes to flights throughout our network. PUMA Energy’s continued fuel rationing of Jet A1, has caused this imposition to business and communities travelling on the PNG Air network.

PUMA Energy is restricting fuel supply throughout our network. In some instances, PUMA staff cannot be located to refuel the aircraft. This was experienced in Buka over the weekend. We apologize to impacted customers.

PNG Air would like to advise all our passengers and the travelling public that should there be flight disruptions on any PNG Air flights due to fuel supply, the airline will not be responsible for accommodating disrupted passengers. The PUMA fuel service is not within our control.

Passengers will be updated continually regarding their flights. Our social media platforms will be updated regularly with all the latest information necessary for those travelling.

Our Call Centre team will be in contact with customers who have purchased tickets for inbound and outbound travel with any further advisories, should customers be impacted.

PNG Air sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding during this time.

PNG Air has been providing logistic support to Buk Bilong Pikinini and is one of their platinum sponsors. Through this partnership, PNG Air has shipped in excess of 171,766 library learning kits to 342 schools in the country.

PNG Air was delighted to be a part of the Book Week celebrations with Buk Bilong Pikinini at their 9 Mile Library Learning Centre last week.

Under the supervision of the teachers at the Learning Centre, the students showcased a role play of a day of airline operations.

From ticketing to security checks, to boarding the aircraft and loading of baggage, a safety demonstration on board, and inflight catering! Nothing was missed out with even the pilot's address to the passengers.
“When I Grow Up, I want to be a Pilot” is one of Buk Bilong Pikinini's most popular readers, and it is encouraging to see these young children showing keen interest in the aviation industry.

PNG Air is happy to continue supporting Buk Bilong Pikinini as this partnership is invaluable to supporting children with a high-quality Early Childhood literacy program and the availability of books at schools across the country ensures that no one is left behind. Giving them access to such tools at a young age equip them for the future and encourages them to be excited about the endless opportunities that lay ahead for them.

A big thank you to the parents and teachers for all their efforts in ensuring their children had a great week. This gives them something to aspire to be and teaches them that nothing is impossible if they put their mind to it.

Friday Feature: C Check Maintenance Team | Engineering Department

For our Friday Feature today, we take our hats off to the C Check Maintenance team.

This C Check was scheduled from the 1st of June and estimated to be completed in 6 weeks.

The group of dedicated professionals were tasked to carry out maintenance checks and full and thorough inspections on our Dash 8 aircraft P2-MCL.

The team was led by Winston Alois - the check coordinator, and under his supervision, the team managed to deliver P2-MCL back into service on time and according to the scheduled return to service date.

Notable mention to 2 of our female staff Belinda Koyaiye and Esther Tenaen who also played a part in getting this aircraft out on time. Your contributions are appreciated.

About 80 percent of the C Check team comprised of our very own Papua New Guineans who are passionate about aviation, engineering and safety. We're thankful to have these individuals on our team.

The Enga Cultural Show is one of the most authentic displays of indigenous traditional culture.

Celebrating 30 years of the show, the theme for 2024 is "Honoring the past and embracing our future".

The Enga Fashion Fair Runway will also be happening on Saturday 10th August, 6pm at the Take Anda Amphitheatre in Wabag Town.

The runway will feature bilum wear - hand woven garments using PNG's signature weave teachnique. This project and event aims to promote the development of traditional artisan skills and create marketable products to generate income for rural families.

PNG Air is delighted to be a part of this cultural diversity. Experience the traditional singsing, dance, and bilas in Wabag town from Friday 9th August to Sunday 11th August.
