PRESS RELEASE

BI manpower readied for increase in arrival cap

PASAY, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) expressed their readiness for the planned increase of the arrivals cap for international passengers to accommodate more returning overseas Filipinos.

In a statement, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said that he has instructed the BI’s Port Operations Division to conduct an assessment of manpower needed to service the proposed increase of arrivals.

The move comes after the announcement of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) that it plans to increase the arrival cap by exploring alternative gateways to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Clark International Airport (CIA), and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

“With the recent hiring of almost a hundred immigration officers, we are confident that we can supply the needed manpower for the possible increase in arrivals,” said Morente.

It can be recalled that earlier this month, 99 new immigration officers have been deployed to NAIA. Said immigration officers are undergoing their on-the-job training prior to their full deployment in the immigration counters.

“An additional batch of newly-hired immigration officers are expected to be trained by the year-end,” said Morente. “We are currently fast tracking their application so they can be deployed in time for the increase of the number of international passengers,” he added.

Morente said he remains hopeful that international travel will bounce back soon, following the aggressive vaccination campaign of the government.

These days, we can't leave our COVID-19 status to chance. RT-PCR Swab testing is still the mainstay in diagnosing COVID-19. It is the most sensitive and specific in detecting the virus.

Be confident in your test results, choose PRI Medical Center's RT-PCR Swab testing.

*Disclaimer: RT-PCR results should always be interpreted by a qualified physician with clinical correlation of the patient's health status.

Travel Advisory #175
April 30, 2021

NON-FILIPINOS MAY NOW TRAVEL TO THE PHILIPPINES (UNDER CERTAIN GOVERNMENT CONDITIONS)

The Philippine government is now allowing the entry of certain foreign nationals into the Philippines under certain conditions set by previous resolutions of the Government's Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (IATF).

Effective May 1, foreign nationals may now be carried on PAL flights to the Philippines, provided they:

- Must have a valid and existing visa at the time of entry, unless they qualify for visa-free travel under the Balikbayan Program set by Republic Act No. 6768;

- Must have a pre-booked accommodation for at least seven (7) nights in an accredited quarantine hotel or facility, and they must subject to COVID-19 testing at the quarantine hotel / facility on the sixth (6th) day from the date of arrival;

However, each Philippine airport continues to impose a daily maximum number of allowed international arriving passengers, in line with governmental restrictions.

Also allowed to travel to the Philippines are:

- returning or repatriated OFWs and other Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) returning to their places of residence
- members of the diplomatic community
- duly-authorized humanitarian assistance actors
- persons traveling for medical/humanitarian reasons

If you were unable to take your flight due to travel restrictions or limitations, you may:

1. Convert your ticket to a Travel Voucher (request until June 30, 2021);

2. Avail of unlimited rebooking (no rebooking fee) until December 31, 2021. If you will be completing your travel in the same booking class by June 30, 2021 (or ticket validity, whichever comes first), there will be no fare difference charge;

3. Refund your ticket without penalties.

You may request any of the options via the myPAL Request Hub at https://mypal.vip/url/RequestHub.

If your flight is not affected by cancellations or travel ban, you can make voluntary changes to your flight following the new No-Worry Flight Fare Brand. All changes shall be made within ticket validity and applicable change fees shall be assessed on the fare conditions of the route. Please visit https://bit.ly/PALPassengerOptions

This is a requirement of the Philippine Government authorities for ALL international and domestic passengers, whether arriving in or departing from any airport in the Philippines, to enable health authorities to notify travelers who may have had contact with a COVID-19 patient. Passengers who do not have mobile phones or any other mobile gadgets may go to the Traze Helpdesk, located near the terminal entrance in all Philippine airports and at the arrival area of international airports, for registration assistance and QR code printing. Passengers traveling to the Philippines from
overseas countries are advised to download the app before they embark on their trip.

For more information, please click: https://bit.ly/PALTravelsFromPH.

For all domestic travelers: Please check with the local government offices of both your origin point and your final destination on travel requirements, such as mandated documents or health certifications. These requirements differ from province to province, and are revised and updated constantly in line with the anti-COVID-19 arrangements of each locality. NEW OPTION - TAKE YOUR RT-PCR TEST AT PAL'S NEW TESTING FACILITIES
Passengers departing on PAL international and domestic flights from Manila may undergo RT-PCR and Antigen testing at the Philippine Airlines Learning Center (PLC) located at 540 Padre Faura cor. The PAL testing center provides drive-thru or walk-in testing from 8AM to 8PM daily at PAL Learning Center and 12NN to 8AM the next day for PAL Gate 3 (except for Mondays, operations start at 8PM). The tests cost 3,300 for RT-PCR tests with results released within 24 hours, and PHP 700 for Antigen tests with results released in 30 minutes. Payment options are: cash (PHP currency only), card (debit/credit), GCash, PayPal, WeChatPay, or Alipay. Passengers may also pre-pay for their COVID-19 tests online.

If you need to take another RT-PCR test for your new flight schedule, you may undergo RT-PCR testing at PAL's own testing facility at PAL Learning Center or PAL Gate 3 (see above information on "NEW OPTION - TAKE YOUR RT-PCR TEST AT PAL'S NEW TESTING CENTER").

Flying Safely in the ‘New Normal’
PAL is strictly implementing Fly Safe “new normal” practices to protect our passengers, in compliance with international health and safety protocols.
Please bring your own face masks and face shields and wear them at all times – at the airport and throughout your flight.
We encourage you to check-in online and arrive early at the airport to allocate extra time for new safety procedures– at least 3 hours prior to departure for domestic flights; and 4 hours prior to departure for international flights.
Our cabin crew would have undergone medical evaluation prior to their duty, and will be wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for your protection on board the flight. A modified meal and snack service will be offered on board, using sealed packaging instead of traditional meals.
Don’t worry about the cabin air --- all PAL aircraft are equipped with high-technology systems that continuously infuse fresh air across the cabin (cabin air is replaced every 2 to 3 minutes), as well as HEPA filters that trap viruses, bacteria and other contaminants with 99.99% efficiency. The onboard air creates a cleaner environment that is safer than most enclosed public spaces and comparable to hospital operating rooms. SPECIAL REMINDER TO CHECK ON UPDATES:
This is a developing situation, and it is quite possible that our plans and schedules may change in response to evolving travel restrictions and quarantine limitations at arrival airports. Kindly check our website www.philippineairlines.com, or follow our social media accounts, so that you'll be updated the moment we release advisories on new developments.

OUR THANKS AND APPRECIATION
Thank you for your understanding and support. Your health and safety will always be our top concern, and we wish you safe travels.
