One of the major food crops in Arayat is mango. It is said that each barangay has hectares of mango plantations. In this, because of its distinct surplus of mango. They came up with a celebration to promote their local fruit and here the Mangga Festival was made.

Mebalik tapa keng banwang 1928.

🎞️ Title: The "Emperess " of Arayat ca. 1928

This rare 1928 footage by British Pathe caught on film camera wherein a procession of the image of Arayat town's patron saint, St. Catherine of Alexandria presumably this was taken during the observance of her feast on November 25.

This footage gives us a rare glimpse of how the image looked like and how it was borne in procession on the still unpaved streets of town. It also shows how the townspeople back then dressed like in those days .

Curiously, the news agency referred to St.Catherine as an "empress" owing perhaps to the crown on her head.

In Arayat we have to festivals:

𝟭. 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁. 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗮 (𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟱)

Every 25th of November the town fiesta were celebrated. Here, in the Church of Poblacion Arayat, Pampanga, a celebration is made in the honor of the Patroness, St. Catherine De Alexandria.

For its patroness, Santa Catalina de Alejandria (St. Catherine of Alexandria), a virgin-martyr of the 4th century killed under the rule of Maxentius. The saint is portrayed standing with a sword, with Maxentius' head under his foot.

It is believed that for any head ailments (headache, migraine, brain tumors, etc) the saint is often invoked. For the reason that she had offered her head to be severed for the sake of Christ. In town, she was considered to be one of the Medieval period's most significant saints and this made her prominent Augustinian devotion.

𝟮. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 (𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟲)

One of the major food crops in Arayat is mango. That is why there is a barrio/barangay name solely after the fruit (Mangga-Cacutud) it is said that each barangay has hectares of mango plantations. In this, because of its enormous surplus of mango. They came up with a celebration to promote their local fruit and here the Mangga Festival was made. The term for the specific mangoes here are called "Carabao mango" or in vernacular "Manggang Damulag"

Kapampangan is frequently speaked in other province in central Luzon specifically northeastern Bataan, as well as within the regions of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales that border Pampanga. Numerous of Aeta bunches in Central Luzon's southern portion to get it and indeed talk Kapampangan as well. The dialect is known honorifically as the Amánung Sísuan ("breastfed, or sustained, dialect"). (Kapampangan language, n.d.).

The town of Arayat is situated in the northern part of Pampanga. It is enclosed with other towns such as Magalang on the northwest side, Cabiao on the northeast side, Candaba on the Eastside, Sta Ana on the South and Mexico on the west.

Arayat is the biggest town in northern part Pampanga, It is comprised of 30 barangays or barrios namely: Arenas, Baliti, Batasan, Buensuceso, Camba (Kaledian), Candating, Cupang, Gatiawin, Guemasan, La Paz (Turu), Lacmit, Laquios, Mangga-Cacutud, Mapalad, Matamo, Palinlang, Paralaya, Plazang Luma, Poblacion, San Agustin Norte, San Agustin Sur, San Antonio, San Jose ( Mesulo), San Juan ( Bano), San Mateo, San Nicolas, San Roque (Bitas), Sto.
