Kaparkan Falls Facts:

1) Kaparkan Falls are also known as Mulawin Falls and are found in Sitio Kaparkan, Barangay Caganayan, Tineg in Abra Province;

2) The best time to go to Kaparkan Falls are the months of August and September during the rainy season;

3) Kaparkan Falls are approx 500 metres long and 60 metres wide;

4) The Falls drain into the Tineg River;

5) They are 47km from Bangued and the Jeepney needs chains on its tyres for the last 15km along a narrow muddy track.

This astounding 60-hectare limestone formation is located in Marag Valley in Poblacion Luna in the province of Apayao. Excitement will surely rule the day as the trekkers will find themselves in a stone labyrinth being amazed by the towering spiked limestone rocks!

Mount Pulag is Luzon's highest peak at 2,928 metres (9,606 ft) above sea level, third-highest mountain in the Philippines, and the 26th-highest peak of an island on Earth. It is second-most prominent mountain in the Philippines, it is a dormant volcano. Located on the triple border of the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya, the borders meet at the mountain's peak. Mount Pulag is third highest next to Mount Apo and Mount Dulang-dulang.

Mount Pulag is famous for its "sea of clouds" and its exceptional view of the Milky Way Galaxy at dawn, which has attracted many tourists who wish to see the "other-worldly" scenery.

The entire mountain is believed to be the home to the tinmongao spirits and is the sacred resting ground of the souls of the Ibaloi people and other ethnic peoples in the area

Lamut Watershed Subproject is one of the three subprojects implemented by the Forestry Sector Project (FSP) within the Magat River Watershed Reserve. Eight POs in thirteen barangays was federation to manage the project, the Federation of Responsive Association of Magat Ecology, Inc (FRAMEI). These include the three (3) barangays of Lamut, Ifugao namely: Bimpal, Jolowon and Nayon but it was expanded to ten (10) barangays under the jurisdiction of two municipalities of the province of Ifugao. These include the Barangays of Hapid, Magulon, Panopdopan, Payawan, Pieza and Umilag of Lamut, and Caba, Luta, Banga and Tupaya of Lagawe. The subproject lies within the geographic coordinates of 16041’ to 160 47’ latitude and 121007’ 42.8” to 121015’ 49.77” longitude. The subproject site (both for Lamut and Lagawe side) is accessible by all types of vehicle with an average of 40 minutes’ drive from the PENR Office at Bannit, Payawan, Lamut, Ifugao.
In general, the implementation of the subproject aimed to improve the socio economic condition of the sub-watersheds’ Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) by generating alternative livelihood opportunities through a community based watershed rehabilitation approach involving forestation and agro-forestry strategies while at the same time, enhancing the environment and enriching the biodiversity of the natural forest.
