What you need to know:
💡Taiwan weather can get very cold. Prepare you puff jackets or coats. 🥶
💡The tour starts at 9AM and ends at around 7PM.
💡The line for picture with the Queen’s head can get very long. There is a monitor nman so each person gets around 15seconds to take picture kaya mabilis din ang pila.
💡In Yehliu, unahin pumila sa Queen’s head then tsaka na magpicture sa ibang rock formations pag pabalik.
💡Pasalubong items are cheapers pala sa Yehliu sa may exit. We did not know this so hindi kami bumili rito. Even sa Jiufen mas mura kesa sa Ximending so alam niyo na.
💡Sa Jiufen, unahin din mag picture sa Spirited Away inspo na restaurant. It is located left of stall 155. Yung stairs pababa. 😉
💡Pinakamasarap yung sausage sa Shifen Waterfalls. 😋
💡If you want nman na mas konti ang tao, you can do this DIY pero it will take you more than one day especially if you need to arrive to each location early in the morning.

➡️People here are very friendly and hospitable. I’m lucky my Davao friends drove me around and even offered to host during my stay.
➡️Easy to navigate. You can ask people around. Transport is very accessible.
➡️Taxi drivers are nice (at least in my experience).
➡️Mainit, syempre. Best to wear appropriate clothes like drifit.
➡️Durian. Not a fan of the fruit but I like durian products. 👌
➡️Food and goods are not very pricey unlike in some provinces.
➡️Internet connection is generally okay except in some remote areas. They have piso wifi tho. I was able to use it to send emails. ☺️

Another reason to consider Catanduanes?
SEAFOOD! 😋🦐🦞🦑

It was my first time eating lobster 🦞 and we did not break the bank for this. The lobsters only cost us less than 1k (probably more than 5k in Boracay and other places 🤭). This is already good for 3-4 persons. The price includes na din the paluto! dba so budget friendly? 😅 We had to add lang 90 pesos for the luto na may gata.

This is in Puraran Beach. You can go here after Binurong Point. Ask your guide if he knows where you can reserve lobsters for lunch. The availability depends on the morning catch.

While some may draw parallels with the more famous Batanes, Binurong Point in Catanduanes captivates visitors with its unique landscapes and cliffs.

There are three points around the landscape (shown in the pics) which offers different vibes. Since this is not too touristy, you can take unlimited pictures with no unwanted photobombers.

DENstination tips:
✅YES! IT IS WORTH WAKING UP EARLY FOR THE SUNRISE!
✅If you are coming from Virac, depart at 4AM or earlier to catch the sunrise. Baras is around 1 hour away from Virac.
✅Entrance fee is ₱40/pax. Environmental fee is ₱30/pax. Guide fee is ₱250 minimun for 1-4 pax.
✅There is a 30-40 minute hike from the drop off point to Binurong. It may take you longer if it is muddy especially if it rained the day before.
✅Weather is very unpredictable. Pray for a good weather during your visit. 😅 It gets really muddy and may be difficult to trek.

✅ There are two entry points to Catanduanes: Flight from Manila to Virac and Ferry from Tabaco City to Virac.
✅ For faster travel, book a flight. We booked ours using CebSuperPass so mura lang. Note that there is only one flight per day. Be prepared for possible cancellations since daanan ng bagyo ang Catanduanes.
✅ For large groups you can book a van tour. But for small groups (1-4pax), you can book a tricycle tour. You can contact kuya Privaldo Gianan - 09558593836 for tricycle tour.
✅ Be prepared for hiking! Hindi namin ito inexpect! Marami sa tourist sites ay may 20-30 minute hike! 😅 Pinaka steep yung sa Bote light house pero cementadi nman. The rest ay okay but it can be so maputik lalo na kapag umulan.
✅ If you wish to eat lobsters, mag pa reserve kayo early. There are days na konti lang yung catch. We got our meal (5 lobsters, freshwater shrimps, large pusit, fish meal for only around ₱1k good for 3).
✅If hindi pa nakapunta sa Caramoan and you have a spare day, pwede kayo mag book ng tour from Catanduanes. It will be a lot nearer compared to coming from Naga po. According to kuya, you’ll be able to visit more islands pa.

The flight path from Manila to Virac, Catanduanes offers a view of Mt. Mayon. This scene reminds me of my first flight ever to Tacloban, Leyte for sa work related trip.

As I look back on my first flight, I get to appreciate not only the physical distances I’ve covered but also the personal growth and enrichment that travel brings. Each journey is a chapter in a story, with every takeoff and landing representing a new page turned. Not a chapter closed. ☺️ IYKYK

This is The Ruins of Alcatraz found in Roxas City, Capiz. We thought this is ruin of an old structure like a church. Going there, we learned these ruins are what remains of a supposed resort. Unfortunately, a typhoon destroyed most of it during its construction so it was left incomplete and abandoned.

It is true that Boracay offers the nicest sunsets. This is probably one of the reasons why people visit Boracay.

Pro Tip: Make your sunset viewing more memorable by joining a Paraw Sailing Activity. We booked ours via Klook. It is a lot cheaper than those nagtatanong sa beach area.
