Malacaรฑang recently declared Monday, September 2, 2024 as a special non-working day in Baguio City in celebration of the cityโs 115th Charter anniversary on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Proclamation No. 641 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin by authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. which was issued on July 29, 2024 stated that it is but fitting and proper that the cityโs populace be given full opportunity to participate in the important occasion and enjoy the celebration of the cityโs Charter anniversary and the activities lined up for the same.
Earlier, the Office of the City Mayor requested the Office of the President that Monday, September 2, 2024 be declared as a special non-working day in the city in lieu of Sunday, September 1, 2024 to enable the cityโs residents to fully participate in the said occasion.
Republic Act (RA) 6710 declared every September 1 as Baguio Charter Day and a special non-working day in the city to commemorate the cityโs founding anniversary.
However, the celebration of the cityโs Charter anniversary this year falls on a Sunday, September 1, 2024, thus, the aforesaid request.
