We’re not the Grand Canyon but in our 700sq meter compound (na 15mins jeep away lng fr SM), our walang katulad homey homes are nestled among green & open spaces so YOU CAN BREATHE & RELAX.
Need natin ng more than 4 walls. Because hindi dapat tayo nakukulong ng sinoman o ng ano pa man. 😉 😝❤️

*And sa totoo lng, 30% of properties shd be alloted to open spaces accdg to the Natl Building Code 🌿, spaces that are integral to our mental health.

📌 Dear Guests & Other Friends:
Pls brace for more traffic in the Central Business District & major tourist spots tomorrow as there are many activities happening such as Sunday Masses, the usual closure of Session Road giving way to street art & stalls plus the events at Burnham Park - Rose Garden. The regular number coding scheme applies through the holidays until further notice.

Photo 1 is traffic situation at 7pm today.

Photo 2 has the important contact numbers to keep on hand, aside from the Chirping Birds mobile no. 0997-725-3599.

We encourage all to bring minimum number of vehicles & to walk to destinations if possible since parking in the city will be limited.

Keep safe in the crowds & traffic! If you get tired of the hustle & bustle, just relax in your home at Chirping Birds 😉😴🥳.

No need to buy paputoks, just sit on our View Decks or by the windows of our homes, enjoy the excitement & frenzy, make some loud noises or jump up & down (if you need pampatangkad ❤️). While your MEDIA NOCHE awaits!

🌞 GOOD MORNING !
One of our best simple joys at home at Chirping Birds is waking up to the sun rising
& the scenery the sun touches slowly comes alive in GLIMMERS - on the roof tops & walls of houses, on the mountains. Paired with a cup of coffee - WHAT A BLESSING to be a 15min jeep ride away from the bustle of SM/city center or by car/taxi to Botanical Garden
& yet have this RESTFUL HOME to retreat to & share with you.

TODAY NOV 16- 2pm BAGUIO WEATHER UPDATE: SUPERTYPHOON PEPITO

“Pepito” has intensified into a Super Typhoon, with “potential for catastrophic & life threatening conditions” over northeastern Bicol region 😞. Catanduanes, where Pepito is expected to make landfall, is under Signal #5 while many Cam Sur & Albay areas are under Signal #4. Portions of Eastern & Northern Samar are under Signal #3.

Metro Manila & other parts of Luzon are under Signal #2 while Benguet-Baguio is under Signal #1 as are parts of Visayas & northern Dinagat Islands in Mindanao (Photos 2-6).

We had blue skies & sunshine this morning here at Chirping Birds area (see previous post); now there is still some sun but the skies are now getting overcast with grey clouds (Photo 1)

From tomorrow afternoon to Monday afternoon, Intense to Torrential rains are expected in Benguet while Heavy to Intense Rains are predicted for Metro Manila (Photo 7).
Pepito is moving north westward & expected to exit Phil Area of Responsibility by Monday (Photo 8.

🔆 IBAGIW: BAGUIO CREATIVE FESTIVAL 2024 ! 🔆

We had the wonderful chance to visit the art exhibit “Naked City” at the Baguio Convention Center the other day. The exhibit, running through Dec 08, is part of the Baguio Creative Festival IBAGIW that has a so exciting, jampacked, monthslong Calendar of Activities.

Billed as a “contemporary exhibit that explores the evolving identity of Baguio through cross-community migrations & indigenous cultural resistance to colonial narratives,” Naked City features installations, audio-visual works & other art forms that tell a story &/or nudge you to think further about what Baguio is now about.

The works are by Baguio & Cordillera artists including Tommy Hafalla who is from our Chirping Birds barangay Hillside 😊.

We had the great pleasure of meeting the exhibit curator, Rocky Acofo Cajigan & his team mates Brian Wangag & one of the artists featured, Nai-dra 😍.

We will minimally caption the photos since the experience is best defined & savored first hand ! Go catch it before it’s gone.

TODAY NOV 11- 11am BAGUIO WEATHER UPDATE: TYPHOON “NIKA”

Classes in all levels & gov’t work have been suspended here in Baguio as Nika made landfall over Aurora, moving west over Northern Luzon.

It is Signal #4 in Aurora + nearby areas, while it is signal #3 further south & in the northern portion of Benguet (Buguias, Mankayan & Bakun). The rest of Benguet incl Baguio are under Signal #2. Metro Manila + parts of southern Luzon are under Signal #1 (Photos 2-5).

Intense to torrential rains are predicted today in Baguio-Benguet (Photo 6); rains are now moderate at Chirping Birds area after slowing down a bit early morning. This is how our skies are currently (Photo 1). Nika is expected to exit Phil Area of Responsibility by tomorrow Nov 12.

BAGUIO AIR IS DEFINITELY EVEN COOLER & SNUGGLIER NOW, KEEP WARM IN OUR COZY HOMES + BONFIRES. ☺️🦉.

TODAY NOV 7- 5pm BAGUIO WEATHER UPDATE: TYPHOON “MARCE”

“MARCE” has made landfall in Cagayan & it is Signal #4 in those parts plus many areas in Northern Luzon (Photo 2) 😢.
PAG-ASA has warned of “POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS due to typhoon-force winds, storm surge inundation, and torrential rainfall” in the Babuyan Islands and northern Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

Many other areas are under Signals #2 & 3 (Photos 3, 4).

In Baguio, it is Signal #1 (Photo 5) & the predicted rainfall for Benguet-Baguio is moderate to heavy rainfall from today afternoon till tomorrow afternoon (Photo 6). The rains though have stopped (temporarily?) at Chirping Birds mid afternoon & this is how skies here look like right now (Photo 1).

We pray for everyone esp our friends in Cagayan & areas under Signal #4 🌸. Let’s all continue to monitor official Dost_pagasa.

Who profoundly loved our culture & country
Whose kindness was as beautiful as his art.

As far as we could remember, Papemelroti was always our happy place. And when we started Chirping Birds, we bought items from their stores bearing Sir Robert’s art which we used in our Transient Homes. See the Tea Pots & Tea Cups on Robin’s first signboard? We also use their door hangers - photo of the Kuwago rooms.
We were particularly enamored by his Philippine collection, especially those featuring the jeepney & familiar figures like Manong magtataho or Aling tindera ng isda.

One day, we had a guest who happened to be Sir Robert’s friend who relayed to him that his items were being used in our homes. Our guest informed us that Sir Robert was delighted that his art products were being used in such far away places. We msgd Sir Robert to thank him & were thrilled he replied & started to chat with us. Beyond his enormous talent, we were struck that he was such a gentle & kind soul.

Our hearts are heavy for one gone too soon. A nation will forever be grateful for the talent & love that you shared.

🎃🤡👹🤠 IT WAS A HALLOWEEN TREAT !
Yesterday, it was so fun to don our DIY costumes & make-up to welcome our Hillside Brgy children & their young-at-heart parents at the Trick or Treat starting point, right at the Chirping Birds doorstep. Truly community-organized, brgy officials & families again came together to stage this annual event.

It was ultimate proof that a lot of love & fun make for a memorable Halloween, not expensive costumes alone !
