-REPOST-
To those who had to cancel travel plans, we empathize with you. We understand that you were looking foward to spending time with family and friends abroad, trying new food, and experiencing different cultures.
Yes, to put it bluntly, it sucks. Holy Week is peak season for the travel industry, but what sucks more is that there is now zero business for us in this industry.
To those demanding a refund from a travel agency, rest assured we are all trying our best to get your money back.
But in this time of COVID-19, we ask for your patience and empathy. Think before you speak. There is no need to yell, no need to swear, no need to threaten your travel agents with law suits. This is the time for class, not crass.
If you can afford a luxury tour out of the country, we are sure it is not the end of the world if you do not receive a refund today.
Again, we urge you to please think about the plight of others before you complain about why your refund is taking so long.
Think about the thousands who do not have jobs in the travel industry at this time:
1. Travel agents who passionately planned your tour, and the reservations staff, visa processors, etc. who did the legwork
2. Bus, ferry, and train drivers who were supposed to safely drive you, and the mechanics who maintain the transportation
3. Tour guides who were excited to explain the beauty of their country to you
4. Chefs, waiters, and waitresses who were supposed to prepare and serve you new cuisine
5. Hotel staff, from the doorman, bell boy/porters, check-in counter, and cleaning staff who were supposed to ensure your comfort
6. Flight attendants, pilots, and all airline/airport crew who were supposed to get you to your destination
7. Entertainers who were supposed to lively sing and dance for your happiness
8. Shop owners who were preparing to practice their bargaining and discount tactics so that you could bring home a luggage full of souvenirs
The list goes on and on.
So again, our only request is for your patience and understanding.
Think before you speak.
Thank you, and please stay at home, be productive, and may God bless you and your families with good health. 🙂
We look forward to the day we can travel with you again, hopefully sooner, than later.
