Featured is the Rafflesia Banaoana of Kalinga Province... This specie was first discovered and documented in Balbalasang by Professor Pastor Malabrigo, Jr. in 2010. It was named after the Indigenous Community of Balbalasang, the Banao Subtribe.

This World Rainforest Day, we celebrate the rainforests and their dedicated guardians. In line with this, WRD is launching the Year of Action, a global movement dedicated to the immediate protection and restoration of rainforests.

Our rainforests are home to diverse and unique species, including the enigmatic Rafflesia species, which can only be found in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Protecting our rainforests means safeguarding the unique species that thrive in this vital ecosystem.

HAPPY NATIONAL HERITAGE MONTH
Pursuant to President Proclamation 439, the National Heritage Month is annually celebrated during the month of May. This is in recognition of the need to create among the people a consciousness, respect and love for the legacies of Filipino cultural history.

Trivia: HERITAGE includes intangible, tangible and natural elements that is inherited from the past and therefore preserved for future generations such as historical sites, traditional music and the like.

This song entitled "Tupayya" is written and composed by none other than Ms. Ferlina Maglia-Meana. It talks of our cultural dance called "tajok"/"salidsid" in our traditional music "tupayya"/"gangsa". The song is also in a melody we call "salidummay".
