The Baliangao Protected Landscape and Seascape is a mangrove haven and a living research laboratory with more than 22 mangrove species within this protected area. An ecotourism site, a buffer against tropical typhoons and storm surges, and a fish habitat that supports the major livelihood of fishing in the immediate localities, BPLS has been crucial to the climate resilience of the adjacent communities in the coastal barangays of the municipality of Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.

The Baliangao Protected Landscape and Seascape (BPLS-PA), sprawling across 122.41 hectares, serves as a haven for a wide variety of seagrass species. These vital ecosystems not only provide habitat and nourishment for marine life but also play a crucial role in improving water quality and combating climate change. Through their remarkable capacity to absorb carbon, seagrass meadows in the BPLS-PA contribute significantly to the preservation of our planet's delicate balance and the survival of threatened species.

The BPLS is rich and abundant in corals and seagrass which based on the recent assessment both ecosystems are categorized good while the mangrove ecosystem is host to around 20 mangrove species and associates
