That Sinulog sa Carmen is older than Sinulog in Cebu City?

The Sinulog is a festival widely identified with Cebu City; its grandeur and popularity have reached both local and international arena.

It is celebrated every third Sunday of January, a tradition which started in 1980 when the first Sinulog grand parade was organized by former Bureau of Customs Collector David “Boy” Odilao, who is considered as the Father of the Sinulog.

However, much earlier in 1973, the Municipality of Carmen in northern Cebu had already organized their own Ati-atihan-themed Sinulog.

A priest from Kalibo, Aklan brought the concept to Carmen. Through the years it has evolved and is now known as Sinulog sa Carmen.

This year, Carmen is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary Celebration of Sinulog sa Carmen which will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has resumed normal operations since Sunday afternoon. Following this, airlines in MCIA have confirmed that they have resumed flight operations starting at 5:00 AM today. PAL STATEMENT

Notice on Possible Delays Today, January 1, 2023

Dear passengers:

A number of flights of PAL and other airlines will need to be delayed or diverted today, 01 January 2023, as a result of technical issues with the navigational air traffic management system for the Manila area which is affecting departures and arrivals of scheduled flights.

For flights to or from Manila, we advise you to check the status of your journey before proceeding to the airport. Please log on to https://www.philippineairlines.com/en/flight-status.

We are closely coordinating with the aviation authorities on the adjustment of flight schedules and clearances, as the authorities are working expeditiously to resolve this temporary problem.

This is a temporary situation, and we will take all necessary steps to restore normal schedules and bring diverted flights back to their original destination as soon as possible. As always, safety is our top priority, and we seek your kind understanding and patience as PAL works with the authorities and our service partners to make the best of a challenging situation.

Please do not proceed to the airport if your flight is canceled, but instead, avail of the rebooking options below.

If your flight is CANCELLED, you have the option to:
1. Convert your ticket to Travel Credits equivalent to the unused base fare of your ticket. Voucher validity is one year (1) from the date of issuance.
2. Rebook or Reroute your ticket to another flight with available space within 60 days from the original flight in the same booking class or higher within the same cabin class.
3. Refund ticket without penalties, excluding Ticketing Service Charge

Cebu Pacific advises its passengers that the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC) is currently experiencing power outage and loss of communication which are affecting all operations.

All flights have been temporarily put on hold. CEB is coordinating with the necessary authorities on when the situation will normalize.
