IMMIGRATION GUIDE & TIPS

+ Required Documents the I.O. ( IMMIGRATION OFFICER )

May Ask For

1.) ✅ Prepare your documents.

These are the documents you will need for your trip:

• A valid passport (at least six months validity at the time of departure)

• A Round Trip Ticket and Boarding Pass

• An e-Travel Declaration (from etravel.gov.ph)

• For DIY tourists, hotel booking confirmation and receipts.

• For members of a tour group, the travel agency booking/agreement, and a copy of your itinerary.

Be ready to answer questions from the IO about your itinerary and why you want to visit those places.

• For minors not traveling with either parent, a DSWD Travel Clearance.

• A duly authenticated Marriage Certificate in case the IO wants to verify the relationship of couples.

• A duly authenticated Birth Certificate for verification of children.

• A Travel Authority for government employees.

• A Certificate of Employment and Leave of Absence for private employees.

• A Business Permit/DTI Permit (if the source of income is a business)

• A work Contract and OEC from POEA if you are an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW)

• A visa for those traveling to a country where a visa is required.

2.) ✅ The interview is crucial.

It can make or break your departure.

• Provide consistent, clear and confident answers. The IO may repeat questions to test if you are telling the truth.

• Answer questions in a respectful and confident manner.

• Listen carefully. Don't interrupt the IO and wait for him to be finished. Provide honest answers while maintaining your composure.

3.) ✅ Dress modestly.

Wear clothes that say you are a respectable traveler even you are free to dress as you please.

For the first time travelers, especially for women, choose clothes that are not too revealing.

Showing too much skin may give the IO the impression that you may be a s*x worker.

This is a red flag and will cause your offloading.

4.) ✅ IO's are strict with solo travelers.

Be especially prepared if you're young, female, single, or a recent graduate and traveling solo.

Make sure to bring all necessary documents with you.

IO's scrutinize women more than any other gender because they are the most common victims of human trafficking.

5.) ✅ Immigration Officers profile passengers.

IOs are trained in body language.

And they profile you even if you're still waiting in line.

6.) ✅ The IO may check your financial capacity to fund your trip.

This is especially true if you are jobless or your job isn't permanent.

• If you are unemployed, prepare to prove how you will be paying for your trip.

• If your travel is sponsored, bring a notarized Affidavit of Support and Guarantee.

• If your sponsor is from the country you are visiting, bring a Letter of Invitation authenticated by the Philippine consulate or embassy in your destination.

7.) ✅ Know the basic information about your sponsor.

The IO will test how well you know your sponsor and how you are related to him or her.

Be familiar with complete names and addresses.

8.) ✅ Be familiar with your travel history.

The IO may ask you about past travels that may be in their file.

Be truthful with your answer.

If you cannot recall something about it, then them you cannot remember rather than lie and get caught doing so.

9.) ✅ If you have been offloaded before, this is a red flag.

You should know beforehand how to handle questions about it and what may have changed since then so that the IO will no longer doubt the purpose of your travel this time.

10.) ✅ Your attitude is the key.

Be polite during your conversation.

Don't ever argue with the Immigration Officer.

Remember, he holds the key to your trip at that point.

Philippine Airlines and Emirates enhance interline partnership

Manila, 17 August 2023 – Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Emirates have expanded their interline agreement, enabling Emirates’ passengers to access domestic points in Philippine Airlines’ network via Cebu and Clark, adding to the previously announced interline connections via Manila.

Passengers may also fly on Philippine Airlines flights via Dubai to connect seamlessly to Emirates’ network to cities in Europe, Africa, and other parts of the Middle East.

Covering all three gateways in the Philippines served by Emirates – Manila, Cebu and Clark – this partnership expansion will provide seamless connectivity for passengers to reach even more destinations in the Philippines using a single ticket and a convenient baggage policy. Emirates’ passengers can enjoy a convenient booking process to destinations in Philippine Airlines’ network including Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan De Oro, Davao, Iloilo, Caticlan and Puerto Princesa via Cebu; as well as Cebu, Caticlan and Busuanga via Clark.

Philippine Airlines’ passengers will benefit from the enhanced interline agreement and book Emirates-operated flights to Amman, Birmingham, Cape Town, Dammam, Dublin, Lisbon, Manchester, Muscat, and Riyadh via Dubai. The Philippine national carrier operates daily flights between Manila and Dubai, enabling convenient connections to European, African and Middle Eastern destinations. The arrangement allows for passengers to obtain their boarding passes and check through their baggage all the way to final destination.

Travel itineraries can be booked on philippineairlines.com, emirates.com, the PAL and Emirates mobile apps, or via both online and offline travel agents.

The expansion comes months after Philippine Airlines and Emirates first announced their interline agreement, reaffirming the commitment of both airlines to serve growing demand by providing travelers with more choice and flexibility, as well as enhanced customer experiences.

Philippine Airlines first served the Middle East in 1947 and has been serving the United Arab Emirates since 1982. The Philippine flag carrier now operates 24 weekly flights to three countries in the Middle East, along with the nonstop services across the Pacific Ocean to gateways in the East and West Coasts of both Canada and the United States.

Emirates has been flying to the Philippines since 1990 and currently operates 25 weekly flights to Manila, Cebu and Clark. The airline is the only air carrier to offer a First-Class product on flights to Manila, serving premium travellers in the market. With 29 codeshare and 110 interline partners, Emirates’ global footprint encompasses destinations far beyond its own network, offering increased connectivity and convenient options for travelers.

About Philippine Airlines
Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the Philippines’ flag carrier and only full-service network airline. PAL was the first commercial airline in Asia and celebrated its 82nd anniversary in March 2023. PAL's fleet of Boeing 777, Airbus A350/A330/A320/A321, and De Havilland DHC-8-400 Next Generation aircraft operate out of hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark and Davao to 33 destinations in the Philippines and 39 destinations in Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East. In addition to flying passengers on regular scheduled services, PAL also carries air cargo shipments and undertakes charter flights to boost Philippine tourism, support the economy and serve the travel needs of overseas Filipinos.

PAL implements Fly Safe practices to protect our passengers, in compliance with international health and safety protocols.

In compliance with the Philippine Department of Health regulations and government Guidelines for Nationwide Alert Level System, all persons shall wear well-fitted face masks, if necessary, especially in public areas and enclosed spaces.

All PAL aircraft are equipped with high-technology systems that continuously infuse fresh air across the cabin as well as HEPA filters that trap viruses, bacteria and other contaminants with 99.99% efficiency. The air flow system creates a cleaner environment that is safer than most enclosed public spaces and comparable to hospital operating rooms.

For more information, please visit Safety Measures page.
