๐SULIG BISLIG!๐
Discover Bislig: A City of Legends and Rich History ๐๏ธ๐
Nestled in the heart of Surigao del Sur, Bislig, officially known as the City of Bislig, boasts a vibrant history and captivating allure. With a population of 99,290 people according to the 2020 census, Bislig stands as the most populous city in the province.
Barangay Mangagoy, affectionately called 'the little city within the city', is a bustling hub of trade and industry, boasting a population of 32,464 as of the 2015 estimate. As the largest barangay in both the city and the entire province, Mangagoy is a vibrant center of activity.
Legend has it that Bislig's name originated from a forest vine known as 'Bislig', symbolizing strength. The vine saved a royal couple from the rushing river current, leading the ruler to name the place as a gesture of gratitude.
Bislig's historical roots stretch back to the era before Spanish conquistadors, where it derived its name from 'bizlin', a form of gold that held great value in trade and barter. Historical accounts reveal a variety of spellings by Spanish chroniclers, but by the 18th century, 'Bislig' became the consistent and recognized name.
Explore Bislig's fascinating heritage, picturesque landscapes, and legendary tales that continue to shape its identity. Let the echoes of history guide you through this enchanting city. ๐๐๏ธ

โจLAMBO LINGIGโจโฌ๏ธ
As Pam travels across the expansive terrain of Surigao del Sur, she discovers these breathtaking gems within the Municipality of Lingig.๐๐
Step into the intriguing history of Lingig, where a humble barangay transformed into a vibrant municipality:
In the early 20th century, the stage was set for Lingig's journey. Originally just a barangay of Hinatuan, its destiny took an unexpected turn. Picture this: in 1920, Congressman Tiongco took a bold step by proposing a bill to carve out Lingig from its parent municipality. Imagine the anticipation as the bill received the nod of approval. On that momentous day, December 20, 1920, Executive Order No. 65 waved its magic wand, granting Lingig its autonomy.
The year 1921 dawned with excitement as Lingig donned its new status. March 21 marked the grand inauguration of this budding municipality. Picture the scene: a town brimming with promise, ready to make its mark on the map.
Situated at the southern tip of Surigao del Sur, Lingig's backdrop is the majestic Pacific Ocean. Imagine the ocean's whispers echoing through its history. Bounded by Bislig to the north, Boston of Davao Oriental to the south, and Trento of Agusan del Sur to the west, Lingig stands as a gateway to both land and sea.
Travel back further, to the Spanish era. Lingig was a mere barrio under the shadow of the prosperous Hinatuan. Envision a bustling Hinatuan, hailed as the region's gem due to its abundant h**p, copra, timber, and fish. Amid this bounty, Lingig remained a hidden treasure, known for its alluring resources โ gold, minerals, and vast lands that magnetized settlers from distant corners.
Today, as Lingig stands proud, its history whispers tales of evolution, independence, and a legacy shaped by its bountiful embrace of nature's gifts.

Hello, dazzling souls! Get ready to embark on an enchanting journey through the radiant world of shinny things.โจ
Beyond the bustling crowds and familiar sights lies a destination that seems to have been touched by a mesmerizing blend of magic and timelessness. Nestled in the heart of Rosario is an enchanting haven that awaits intrepid explorers like you!
Did you know that Rosario was a part of San Francisco until it became a separate municipality on June 21, 1969, through the enactment of Republic Act No. 5760. The town was named after its patron saint, Nuestra Senora del Rosario.
Rosario is the home of the Manobos, who have occupied and controlled the territory since time immemorial and have cultivated their lands for sustenance through their forefathers. This is supported by their extensive knowledge of the place, their rituals and traditions, and their very relationship with the land and natural resources.
After WWII, former mine workers on the stated corporation were obliged to engage in traditional and hydrolytic methods of collecting gold utilizing slush boxes and panning. These artisanal mining activities remained as a means of subsistence for the community. So, on October 7, 2020, the Council of Elders of CAMMPACAMM Ancestral Domain Manobo Association Inc. endorsed "Buyawan," or Gold, as a socio-culturally and economically significant industry in the municipality, through Council Resolution No. 04 Series of 2020, which was institutionalized by virtue of Municipal Ordinance No. 8 Series of 2021 as the official Festival of the locality in conjunction with the Municipal Founding Anniversary celebration. Buyawan festival is a sociocultural celebration that showcases Rosario's golden legacy and lively culture.
May your travels be illuminated with radiant moments and sparkling escapades. Embrace the shimmer, ignite your inner glow, and let your explorations reflect the brilliance that resides in your adventurous spirit.๐๐งก

Whatโs up fellow backpackers! Our next stop is the Municipality of San Francisco with itโs breathtaking gems offered to us.
According to the [agusandelsur.gov.ph](https://agusandelsur.gov.ph/), San Francisco can serve as an entry point to the Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary through the Barangays Caimpugan and New Visayas. The town is famous for the massive Toog Tree of Alegria, which holds significant spiritual value for the indigenous people of San Francisco. Additionally, the town is renowned for its Irosin stone crafts, which have been a traditional cottage industry for many indigenous families in the area for centuries.
San Francisco's roots are intertwined with the history of Agusan and Surigao del Sur. It was originally part of the Gibong District under Deputy Governor Francisco Cataylo. Sitio Hagpa, later renamed San Francisco, emerged as a village along the Adlayan River, inhabited by Manobo tribes. In 1959, San Francisco officially became a municipality through Republic Act No. 2518, with Francisca Tesoro Samson as its first Municipal District Mayor. Today, San Francisco comprises 27 barangays.
As we feature their sightseeing attractions, we encourage you to explore and immerse yourself in thrilling experiences. Thrilling escapades await! ๐๐งก

Hola, fellow backpackers! It's been a while, but guess what? ParaGO is back in the spotlight!
We couldn't be more excited to unveil Prosperidad as the newest jewel on our ParaGO map. This breathtaking municipality in Caraga Region is a treasure trove waiting to be explored!๐๏ธ
Here's a fun fact: "Prosperidad" is a Spanish word which signifies progress and prosperity, perfectly reflecting the municipality's goal to uplift its communities through sustainable development and dynamic growth.
Prosperidad, before known as Culilay, was a Manobo settlement at the junction of Sianib River and Gibong River. When Spanish Missionaries arrived, they renamed it San Juan, later changed to Las Navas. After the regime of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, the American Military Government was established, and Agusan became a special province due to its non-Christian population. Agusan was subdivided based on rivers, with Gibong River being one subdivision. The subdivision consisted of 13 municipal districts, now known as Barangays. Over the years, various deputy governors and mayors served in Gibong/Prosperidad, working towards its development. In 1967, Agusan was divided into Agusan del Sur and Agusan del Norte, with Prosperidad as the capital town of Agusan del Sur. With its vast 505.15 square kilometers, Prosperidad boasts an abundance of captivating landscapes and cultural wonders. Nestled in Caraga Region, it shares borders with Bayugan City, offering a diverse tapestry of sights and sounds.
Get ready to dive into Prosperidad's featured locations and prepare to be mesmerized by its mind-blowing natural wonders and rich historical tapestry. Let's create unforgettable memories in this extraordinary place.
