It was in 2014 when I saw a portrait of a lady at the Philippine National Museum. A lady with tribal tattoos on all over her body - she is Apo Whang Od, the oldest "mambabatok" in Buscalan Village, Tinglayan, Kalinga. "Batok" is an ancient form of tattooing.

Kawa Hot Bath is an old style of warm bath which uses a “Kawa” or a gigantic wok that serves as a bath tub. Instead of using a heater, woods are being used to create a fire to heat up the water, then sprinkled with ornamental and medicinal plants for a relaxing experience and for a fairer skin. La Escapo Mountain Resort is the perfect spot to experience Kawa Hot Bath. Not only that, extreme water tubing can also be tried. Most of the mountain resorts offering this kind of service are situated in Tuno, Municipality of Tibiao, a 30 to 40 minutes travel from Culasi, Antique.

"The Latin City of Asia" - the title given to Zamboanga City because of their language called "chavacano," which is very similar to Spanish. This city is situated on the Southern side of the Zamboanga Peninsula and on the Northern side of Basilan. Aside from their language, the City is also prominent with their "vinta," a colorful and stunning sailboat commonly used by the locals. During my Solo-Backpacking, without proper itinerary and only used Google Map, I did a walking tour to their top tourist spots and destinations.

Traveling to Isabela City, Basilan is less than two hours from the port of Zamboanga City. Is it safe in Basilan? It's a YES! There are two cities in the province, Lamitan (the capital) and Isabela (part of Region 9), that serve as the center. Lussok Cave is one of the prides of Apayao and the Cordillera region. This cave is composed of four chambers, with artistic limestone formations. Not only that, Lussok offers a remarkable caving experience because of the spectacular sceneries that can only be seen on the small caverns. Also, did you know that the countless bats residing inside Lussok produces the most expensive fertilizer called "guano?" With our Lussok cave experience, I learned that motto: "kapag ang pumatak sayo malamig, that's Holy water, but if it's warm, that's holy sh_t."
