Fun Fact: Apo Island is often considered a model for marine conservation. In the late 1970s, the local community recognized the decline in their marine resources and took action. They established a marine sanctuary in 1982, making it one of the oldest community-managed marine reserves in the world. This sanctuary has played a significant role in the recovery of fish populations and the protection of coral reefs, making Apo Island a prime example of successful community-based conservation efforts in the Philippines and around the world.🤯
