𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼’𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀!

Rooted in Europe but celebrated with Filipino flair, Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) is a month-long Catholic tradition in the Philippines. Throughout May, Filipinos honor the Virgin Mary with prayers, catechisms, processions, and beautiful flower offerings.

The celebration culminates with the Santacruzan, a grand procession where women portray biblical figures and parade the streets in stunning colorful gowns. It commemorates and retells the narrative of Reyna Elena (Queen Helena) mother of Constantine the Great, who found the Holy Cross upon which Jesus Christ was crucified.

The Municipality of Liloan in northern Cebu, celebrates its rich culture, heritage, and history with the Rosquillos Festival, an annual event showcasing Liloan’s famed delicacy, the Rosquillos. Margarita “Titay” Frasco first created these ring-shaped biscuits using flour, sugar, eggs, and shortening. The Rosquillos Festival also honors Liloan’s patron saint, San Fernando El Rey.
