Palawan, Philippines – The province of Palawan has emerged as the leading "Top Travel Destination preferred by Filipinos" in the Philippines, based on the released results of the Pahayag 2023 Second Quarter Survey (PQ2) last June 29, 2023. The survey, conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia, Inc. from June 7-12, 2023, is an independent and non-commissioned survey.
"Palawan emerged as the most preferred travel destination, with an impressive 23% of respondents expressing their desire to visit the breathtaking province," according to PQ2.
The conducted study provides valuable insights into the preferences of Filipinos regarding the places within the country they wish to visit, with Palawan leading the list along with the featured beautiful regions of the Philippines.
"Known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine biodiversity, Palawan has captured the hearts of many Filipinos," PQ2 added.
The Provincial Government of Palawan, under the leadership of Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates, was in high spirits upon receiving the news. Palawan Provincial Tourism Office was equally elated and vowed to make more proactive initiatives and measures to ensure excellent services and quality tourism products.
“We value the importance of domestic tourism as it feeds money back into the local economy. We hope that citations like these translate into benefits for our communities and empower our vulnerable sectors specially women and our cultural communities,” said Palawan Provincial Tourism Officer Maribel Buñi.
Buñi also called on to fellow Palaweños to continuously protect the environment as well as the province’s culture and heritage as these are the very tourism assets that give life to the industry.
“Tourism is not only for tourists. The industry must benefit most of all, our host communities,” Buñi added.
Also included in the top 5 preferred travel destinations in the country are Baguio, which garnered 16% from the respondents. Cebu ranked third, while Siargao secured the fourth spot, both receiving 9% from the respondents. Aklan, home to Boracay island, claimed the fifth position with 8%. Other provinces that respondents expressed interest in visiting include Batanes (6%), Bohol (4%), and Davao (3%).
The results are based on a nationwide purposive survey of PQ2, wherein 1,500 respondents were randomly selected from a market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos.
"The Department of Tourism (DOT) of the Philippines has reaffirmed its commitment to showcasing the unparalleled beauty and attractions of the country with the launch of its new tagline, 'LOVE the Philippines.' This new tagline encapsulates the spirit of appreciation and admiration for the diverse landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality that the Philippines has to offer," PQ2 said.
Only registered Filipino voters were included in the survey sample, ensuring that the results accurately represent the sentiments of the voting population.
