The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is undergoing a major terminal reassignment as part of a broader modernization plan. The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), led by San Miguel Corp., will take over operations on September 14, 2024.
The terminal realignment aims to ease congestion and enhance the passenger experience. The planned changes include:
Terminal 1 will be dedicated to Philippine Airlines (PAL).
Terminal 2 will serve domestic flights, mainly for Cebu Pacific and other domestic carriers.
Terminal 3 will handle all foreign airlines currently in Terminal 1.
Terminal 4 will cater to AirAsia flights.
These changes will occur gradually over the next few years, with full implementation expected once the Terminal 2 extension is completed. The reassignment is part of a larger effort to increase NAIA's capacity to 62 million passengers annually by the end of the concession period.
