The Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta), known locally as mawumag in Cebuano and other Visayan languages, and magô in Waray, is a species of tarsier endemic to the Philippines. It is found in the southeastern part of the archipelago, particularly on the islands of Bohol, Samar and Leyte. It is a member of the approximately 45-million-year-old family Tarsiidae, whose name is derived from its elongated "tarsus" or ankle bone. Formerly a member of the genus Tarsius, it is now listed as the only member of the genus Carlito, a new genus named after the conservationist Carlito Pizarras.

The Loboc River is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bohol. Since pre-Hispanic times, the Loboc River has played an important role in the lives of the locals. Loboc has served as an inland market village where agricultural goods were brought to be bartered with sea produce.

Later on, the Jesuits constructed a seminary in Loboc due to the presence of the river. The town of Loboc became a temporary capital of Bohol during World War II. Today, it is also said to be one of the cleanest rivers in the Philippines. Loboc River passes through Loay Bridge, Loboc Church, and Busay Falls.

Over the years, Loboc gained popularity among tourists because of its river cruise. Since then, many attractions in Loboc have been developed to welcome more tourists.

Dauis Church, also known as the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, is located in Dauis, a small peaceful town from the Island of Panglao. It was declared as a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Commission.

Dauis Church was built in 1697 by the first Spanish missionaries. It was founded by Fr. Diego de Ayala and Fr. Joseph Gregorio of the Jesuit order. After 1753, the Jesuits moved their main residence from Loboc and Fr. Joseph Nepomuceno built a convent in the church complex which became their official residence. The Jesuits were expelled from the Philippines in 1768 and all their missions were turned over to the Augustinian Recollects.

Since then, the Dauis Church has been renovated several times and in 1863, Fr. Julio Saldana began the construction of the present Dauis church. It was later finished by Fr. Natalio del Mar in 1923.

The church is a mixture of neo-gothic and neo-classical architecture. It has a bell tower made of corals. Inside, tourists will witness the 18th century interior of the church and murals painted on the ceiling by Ray Francia in 1916.
