PHILIPPINES' FIRST GLOBAL GEOPARK

Bohol Island in Central Visayas has been named a “global geopark,” making it the first in the Philippines to get the Unesco designation.

The Unesco Global Geopark label, which was created in 2015, recognizes geological heritage of international significance.

“Geoparks serve local communities by combining the conservation of their significant geological heritage with public outreach and a sustainable approach to development,” said the Unesco.
