Seoul is the capital of South Korea and is located in north-western Korean Peninsula. South Korea is surrounded by the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan. Seoul represents 0.28 per cent of the area of the entire peninsula or 0.61 per cent of South Korea. It has a population of 9,736,027 on an area of 605.21 square kilometres. The Han River flows through the city and along it are numerous city parks.
