The tale of Dina and G*t is a cherished legend from the Dinagat Islands. According to the story, Prinsipe G*t and Prinsesa Dina hailed from two long-standing rival tribes. Despite their families' enmity, they fell deeply in love and kept their relationship in secret. When their affair was discovered, their fathers forbade them from seeing each other. Determined to be together, Dina and G*t fled their tribes, sailing until they reached a secluded island paradise. There, they lived as husband and wife, nurturing the island and vowing to protect it for future generations. One day, faced with an impending invasion by foreign intruders, the couple, unable to defend their beloved home, dove into the sea and disappeared. Soon after, two islets emerged where they were last seen, believed to be the embodiments of Dina and G*t. These formations are known as Babaeng Bukid (Female Mountain) and Lalaking Bukid (Male Mountain). The island was subsequently named "Dinagat" in their honor. Today, locals believe that the spirits of Dina and G*t continue to watch over and protect the Dinagat Islands.
